I have started my company from Feb.2008 and when company only works for 5 months, one of employee (girl) married and in pregnancy immediately and almost nothing she can do, just sit down in office to goof. At the first beginning, I am not too satisfied with her work, but no suitable person at the time being, so we signed with her for 1 year to work, the contract will be valid till Mar.20,2009. Now because of the financial crisis, business is not good and we have another suitable employee and want to cut down expense of company, I do not want to continue contract with her anymore from Mar.21, but it seems difficult for me to do because she is pregnancy and when situation is better, I also need her to do official work. How can I do? to tell her directly when contract is at term, then stop any welfare or continue welfare, but no contract and money during her born baby? Can you give me good suggestion or good way to solve the problem?

Be honest. Let her know that you're in a financial crisis. She will understand. If you want her back you can let her know that when your situation will improve you'll be very happy to take her back.

Yes, we all struggle in financial crisis. It is more difficult for a small company. Do your best to help her and she'll understand you. A good luck for you.

It's very nice of you to consider your pregnant employee. Do you have an existing employee and employer contract? Were you able to include these kind of situations? Review your contracts immediately to avoid the hassle of legal conflicts. For your pregnant employee, talking with her in private is a good thing to do. We are all being affected by the crisis and she will appreciate it I'm sure if you will be telling her in advance so she can prepare. You can't do anything about it if you will not be able to pay her anymore. The best thing you can do is to prepare her and assure her that you will be contacting her again if you will need her services again. It's also a good thing if she has an insurance that she can hold on to when she delivers her baby. If you have other friends or business partners who can absorb her services, then it's another good thing to do for her.

thanks for suggestion. I will speak to her 1 month before contract and tell her our problem and also tell her we want her to come back to work after she delivers her baby. During the year, our company will give her insurance until she finds suitable job.
