Has anyone been a foster for a dog rescue

I am seriously thinking about becoming a foster home for the GRReat Golden Retrieer rescue. Has anyone done this? My husband thinks I will become too attached to let them go. I now am the mother to 2 males who are the babies. The kids are grown. I think it would be a great thing to do. I understand this organization places about 300 dogs per year and they are all goldens. As a foster you take them to the doctor for shots and neutering. You find out about their temperment, habits, etc and decide what kind of home is best. Like no other dogs, no kids, no cats etc. If you fostered let me know if you could let them go. How was your experience???
