How many have put their Christmas decorations away?

Do you put your Christmas decorations away the day after Christmas or do you wait until after new years or do you wait until after Jesus' birthday on January 6th?
I myself am so tired of the holidays and put my Christmas decorations away this weekend. My husband took down the decorations from outside and I undecorated the tree and boxed it up. Yes it is a fake tree but I have a funny story to tell you all way I have the one I have.
The second year we where living here in this house I bought a live tree, I picked out a 7 foot tree and brought it home. This was after my husband had been recovered from his stroke for 1.5 years. He went outside and put it in its stand. Mind you this is something he has done for years and years and years. I did not give it a thought that he did not know what he was doing.
He brought the Christmas tree in and he had trimmed the bottom off that was OK but then the also had trimmed the top off. I do not know what posed him to trim the top of the tree off. So that same year I saw this 7 foot fake fir tree with lights on it for $25 at the same store as I got the real tree. A few days later I went and picked up the fake tree and it was down to $22.00 and bought it I put it in the rafters of the garage so he did not know I bought it. I did not want to hurt his feelings. I also had a very bad looking tree that year so never again will I have a Christmas tree that is trimmed at the top and at the bottom. He does not even remember doing it so I do not bring it up at all.
Now are you one of those people that like to have your decorations up for a long time or are you like me tired of the holidays and glad they are over?

Nope...I have a tendency to kept my decorations up as long as possible, save maybe all the decorations on my front door..those I'll take down soon. I hate taking Christmas decorations down as it makes the place look nice and festive...once they're down the place looks "naked"--LOL.

I like keeping them up long after the Holidays as well but....
With dads health issues and using a walker he needs the room or he could knock the tree down. SO mine came down about the 27th this year. Ugghhh! When he just used a cane they stayed up till the ned of January. Now my outdoor ones stay out but not lit until it gets warm aghain. March or so at the earliest for them.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I took my wreath in yesterday because none of my neighbors had any of their wreaths up anymore. But, the tree is still up. I may take it down today or tomorrow. I heard that it is bad luck to take down your decorations before Epiphany, but I don't believe in superstitions. I usually take them down after new years.

I have heard that also and I am like you I am not superstitious. What is silly about the whole thing of taking the tree down before January 6th being bad luck, is if you are a Christian you should not believe in superstitions and just believe in Jesus and his Father. So if you take it down before the Epiphany then it will be OK if you ask for forgiveness. (if you believe in that)

I worked on some heads today. Hopefully will get them in the kiln tonight so I will know by morning. I am working on some bundle babies too. I have the bodies ready but I need to get some more cable ties to hold the head, arms, and legs in the bodies.

I know about being busy and not having time to put stuff away. I went to work today and have been up since 4am. I did nap for 15 minutes so I feel OK now. I will crash soon.
How is the new doll coming? Did the head and face look better? Are you happy with it?

I love the holiday and put my tree up right after thanksgiving. By xmas, I am just tired of it and want to get my home back to normal. I take them down as soon as possible after xmas....sometimes on xmas night if I have the night off. Years ago, my grandmother bought me a beautiful fake tree that actually looked very real. I used it for a couple of years and then went back to getting a real tree. I had an aunt that could not afford a tree so I let her borrow the fake one. I never got it back. She loved it and kept it up year round. She decorated it for Valentines, easter, etc. She enjoyed it so much that I just could never bring myself to ask for it back.

How sweet of you to let you aunt have the tree. I do love her spunk to decorate for every holiday I am not that into holidays. I have a friend who will leave her tree up until Easter if she could. When she had a real tree I would worry about her because she runs the lights on the tree even if she is not home. I have heard of to many house fires from faulty lights and dry trees.

I am with you. I love the holidays too but not quite "that' much. My aunt was just a very unique and genuinely sweet person who loved everyone and everything. She enjoyed life itself. I looked up to her and her positiveness. As much as I tried to be like this lady...i fell short. She, herself, was perhaps the most loving, kind person i have ever in my life met. It felt good to give her something that she truly enjoyed and kept. She was normally the type of person to give away all her possessions and go without herself. Seriously, If I bought her gloves...she'd wear them until she saw someone who needed a pair of gloves. She always carried a pair of socks in her coat to replace them! I was driving once and saw her walking in sub-zero temps with no coat! she'd given hers away and when I picked her up..she was still smiling! We grew up in the same household and I swear that her integrity was sincere. she was an amazing woman. she was a teacher, a model and an actress...I actually got to meet people thru her...unbelieveable but very humble lady. yup...the tree was just a mere token.

Most of my holiday decorations are put away but my tree is still up..lol...I really don't want to take my tree down because it's so pretty!
.... I think my husband wants it down tonight, so if he wants it down he will have to take it down himself, it's a fake white artificial tree because real tree's make my allergies go crazy. I kinda wish I could leave my tree up until the end of the month but I know that won't happen..

I have a fake tree and got some porcelain leaf shaped things that have scents on them to hang on the tree. They are suppose to smell like pine, not. They made my allergies act way up. There are 6 in a box and I only hung 2 on the tree. I had to take them down and put them away. I need to find a good home for them because they are horrible.
I have a hard time with sweet smelling scents I can do the spices, like vanilla, cinnamon and cooking smells in candles but you put sweet smell in it my allergies go while.

I usually do not put up Christmas stuff until December 1 or the first weekend in December. I do not like it up long. I do not know why. I do think it is pretty I just get tired of the mess I guess. I even have a fake tree and do not have to worry about the dry needless on the floor. I also do not have to worry about the pets getting in the tree like some people do.

I put my decorations down at the weekend just gone I figure once January is underway it is all over so what is the point of dragging it all out. It is always really sad to put them away, everything looks so bare and miserable, tomorrow the kids go back to school too so that is just even more depressing!

I use to like it when the kids where home on vacation and it the summer time. I would send them to school and knew they needed to go but loved them home with me also.
I have not vacuumed or put the coffee table back in place. It will take me about 30 minute to get the room back in order. I have a rat terrier puppy that finds paper I seem to drop and takes it that room and tears it up. I did not realize I dropped so much paper.

When I was growing up we had a family who kept their Christmas tree up until July. Now to me that was silly why take it down to only put it up in a few months. It stayed up that long why not keep it up.

As far as I can remember we have always put our tree away on the 1st of the new year when we have fake trees. When we have real trees we keep them for a little bit longer, probably to keep the nice evergreen smell. We normally keep up the Christmas decorations for a little bit longer for example (window decorations, indoor lights, table decorations etc.) but we normally take down our tree right away on the first.

I was out to lunch today and they where playing the 12 days of Christmas in the restaurant. I do not know if it was their own personal music or piped in like some chain restaurants have.

Christmas has gone to quick, but it does feel like Christmas is not christmas, as shops and the council put up decorations far to early and all you hear is christmas melodies. I love Christmas and the spirit of Christmas and now its disapointing to see everyone taking there decorations down!

To me I am tired of the Christmas season because in the stores you see the Christmas stuff starting before Halloween. The other day I was in a craft store and there they where putting up Valentines stuff and also Easter things. Easter is not until April 12 this year. That is 4 months away from now by that time I will be tired of Easter.

What little decorations we had are all still up. We normally would have taken them down the weekend after New Years, but I was not home. We'll probably do it one night during the week because we may not be home much this weekend coming up either.

Until dad moved in with us we would keep our tree and indoor decorations up until the middle or end of January. This year we took down the tree a couple days after Christmas. Dad needs the room with his walker is the main reason. My outdoor lights etc are still up and will stay up till it gets really warm out. Usually until March or later most years. They also have not been turned on soince New Years Day though and won't be turned on again.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I can understand why you need to get the tree down for the safety of your father. In my opinion safety is more important then having decorations. I am glad to hear that dad is using his walker and not stumbling around like he was at one time.
