Everyone, I need some recommendations for good scary movies. My teenager loves them (not me, yuck!) and she is looking for some titles of your favorites. She asked me to recommend some but I don't watch 'em. I figured I'd turn to ye ole dependable mylotters for help. Please send me your best recommendation for scary movies she can watch online. My daughter is a few months shy of eighteen and is a real scary movie buff; I'd appreciate any input.

Here are some really good ones: Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds Play Misty For Me Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? Curse Of The Living Corpse Circus Of Horrors The Picture Of Dorian Grey Episodes of The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery are good. I don't know if all of these are what you would call "scary," but there's a lot of suspense in them, and they make you think as you study the characters. Whether or not you can find all of these I have no idea, but you can probably find at least a few. Let me know how she likes them. These are, overall, tame enough that you might enjoy them, too, but you can still sense the terror of the characters in these well-put-together movies and TV episodes.

AJ1952Chats, thank you for those classics; I had forgotten them, and you are so right, they are all wonderful. I will be sure to pass them on to Kate so she will be able to enjoy them as much as I did. Kate loves classics! These would be fun to watch with her all over again. A few years back she did see The Birds and it scared her for the longest. LOL She still flinges when she sees a large swarm of birds. Thanks for the recommendation; We'd appreciate any you may think of later. We're gonna go to the moviess...

A few I've seen fairly recently and really liked are "1408", "The Reaping" and "Identity". Also, all of the "Final Destination" movies are very good. I've seen so many through the years I can't come close to remembering them all but I'll say this much, I'm not so much a fan of "blood and gore" with no real storyline. Another movie I just watched was "Fear"; it doesn't quite qualify as a "horror movie" but it's definitely a suspense thriller and for an eighteen year old I think it would be great. It's an early Reese Witherspoon movie when she was still a teen herself and she was fantastic. Annie

I really don't know what movies you can watch online, I don't really deal with that-especially since I got Netflix...but I can DEFENIATLY recommend some good old thriller/scary classics!! Black Christmas (the original NOT the remake)--this is a really great, scary movie from a long time ago! I promise she'll like it!! The Hitcher-I liked the remake and the original--the storylines are VERY similar and the remakes director was very classy and smart when he did this movie. Great acting in both When A Stranger Calls-Again, I liked the original and the remake; but they are VERY different from eachother. And of course.. My fave slasher movie; Halloween (I did not enjoy the remake). I really liked the original Halloween, LOVE the character of michael myers...and I also liked Halloween H2O...it's recent but I really liked it. If I think of any more I'll defeniatly let you know!

I forgot to mention something that would make you happy (you as her mom)...all the movies I recommended have VERY LITTLE to NONE blood and gore! I don't like that in movies; and if your daughter likes the classic horrors I'm sure she doesn't either. Warning: The remakes of Halloween and Black Christmas are very bloody and nasty, and thats why I didn't recommend them--that and they were just BAD movies.

Thanks, LilyoftheThorns, ALL your suggestions are appreciated. Kate will check out your suggestions. Seems she has seen some of the remakes and agree with you that they were not quality films. She likes to stream movies online because it is at no cost. You have to watch in segments but that's a small price to pay for viewing for free at home. I use to love scary movies until I moved into a haunted house when I was in college; that experience made me skittish about watching anything remotely scary. Well I guess that is a whole new discussion, LOL! Anywho, you have been VERY helpful, and we do appreciate the help. Keep us informed if you think of some others.

Sounds like yor kids are like my Kate, she really gets into scary movies too. Kate follows the Saw movies; she has seen most of the Scream movies too; she has a copy of The Grude, very freaky movie; I don't think she has seen Shutter, I will tell her about it. Thanks so much for your help and suggestions, I am just not into scary movies so it is hard to help her choose appropriate ones to watch. Please let us know if you come across more you think she would like.
