Nothing...We should lock our selves away for a while and live like we did in the 90's, ignore the rest of the world. We need to rebuild and become stronger, by ourselves. See if you rise out of this crisis stronger, these other nations are going to have to pay catch up. like say another cold war, when countries were too nervous to spark strife, thats what we need, we need to somehow tell the world of our obligations to interpret this crisis, and come out of it stronger than ever before. If we create competiton, theres no room for war, as war, or "fighting" take resources from the economies. everything i said may not make perfect sense especially the thought of creating competition to end war, but looking at history, another cold war would prouably create a situation when the world get closer without noticing it, yes they may be stock pilling weapons during this process, but at the same time our economies will grow and the gap between culture will shorten. making it harder to start wars, when everyone has something invested in eachother. but what do you think?

At what point in the 90s did we lock ourselves away and ignore the rest of the world? Prs. Clinton deployed troops to more places than any peacetime president in history. Remember him bombing aspirin factories and long abandoned terrorist training camps?

every thing bill clinton did in the 90's was small fry, ask any republican and they'll tell you he didt do enough, somalia bosnia, they sounded like big deals but read about them, there was little involvment in somalia a helicopter was shot down, patroling, while viewing the handling of food and aid. bosnia, was a war of culture, a civil war, he helped waine out. while the world did what it did we created things to keep us here, music, movies, video games computers all got better, the friends tv show was huge, earning each actor over a million per episode. in these times we were busy adapting to the new america, this is before we knew anything about osama bin laden, or al queda or homeland security or missle defense. Then bush came in and we were aquainted...forced to try and work with the world. As one of my few favorite bush lines, "...your either with us or against us". bringing up the 90's was a mere example of what i was talking about. as you could compare this nations involvement with the world-now-you would agree that its totally different from the 90's. if you could travel back you would say (then) we were under a rock.

I think it is an absolute riot that the other countries are worried about the protectionist language in the stimulus bill. Puh-lease. Go to wal mart and tell me how many items are made in america. We have closed so many factories in order to make stuff cheaper offshore it is ridiculous to attack us for wanting to buy american. I agree. Let's fix our own problems first.

I think we need to just say to the world- "we are closed. Will reopen as soon as possible". And then spend that time making our nation the strong, stable and intelligent country we used to be.. Instead of sending millions to other homeless, hungry nations, keep it in on this country and take care of our own homeless and hungry. Instead of spendings millions to get doctors nad medicine to other countries to save and heal , keep that money here and save and heal our own people. Instead of sending millions over seas to help rebuild after other countries disasters - keep that money here and rebuild after our own disasters. IN stead of sending millions over seas to educate others, invest that money in our own educational system. And the list goes on.

I understand and agree to a point, but i think its unfair to say the US is the only nation that needs to just step back and deal with their own problems. Economies around the globe are failing like mad and yet still nations take it upon themselves to interfere elsewhere in the world (and by that i mean no disrespect to troops of any nationality). Regarding a return to the 90's, i likewise wonder how many nation's would benefit from sparing a thought for things that happened in their history and others, both acknowledging previous mistakes and building on the hopes and achievements from those times. Maybe the Obama administration will spark a change and in that event the UK gov't will be left little choice but to follow. The various chains and coalitions gradually feel the domino effect. Here's to the hopes of change and the new year :)

The first thing the United States needs to do is stop importing. Period.... Also stop American businesses from setting up in other countries and importing into the US. We need to put our people to work building every thing we consume. Our workers are laid off while junk pours into the US from all directions. This is a bunch of crap and needs to stop. You cannot import into this country without exporting the wealth of this nation out. I agree with you it's time we withdrew inside our own borders and started worrying about number 1 for a change. We have made China rich and you can be sure we will be forced to fight our own money sooner or later. It's time for some serious changes in our plans for the future of this nation and her people.
