A new form of tourism: Leisure at famers' house

The recent years have seen a new form of tourism, that is staying at famers' house, ususally in the scenic spots, so that the tourists can go around either on foot or by minibus to the nearby hills, waterfalls, springs, etc. The farmers who have spare rooms will provide the accomodation, including meals, trasportation, which in return will be supplementary to their income. It is especially good for people who have plenty of work, and want to travel at a relatively leisure pace. Other than the friendly service provided, fresh food is another special attraction. Do you have such form of tourism in Europe or other parts of the world?

In Europe there are places doing this. it is called eco tourism. In Italy you can go to a farm and live with them then you can spend the day with animals and do some things like help in doing cheeses etc. In Gozo (island near Malta) they had something as well, not sure if you can sleep there, but then you can spend a day with farmers or fishermen.

Because of urbanization in Singapore, there is only some farm left here. people mostly stay in flats, condominium, etc. I like to visit this kind of places to enjoy the atmosphere there. We are going back to the nature and feel the freshness there. Surely, we feel relaxed there.
