There are a lot of famous people that belong to scientology. For instance John Travolta,Patrick Swayze,Lisa Marie Presley,Tom Cruise and more. Most of these people I really like and liked before I knew they were into scientology. I have wondered what it is about.I believe that they do not believe in doctors thou,I am not sure.Researching their sites, out of curiosity,I have found that it is costly to belong to their group. I was so schocked hearing about Jett Travolta dieing.I did not even know that he was an ill child. Now I wonder,is he going to heaven? Do scientologist believe that Jesus Christ is our savior? Can someone please tell me more about scientology?

Look at my response number 4. Also, they just had a report on the news that how scientology believes in doctors and prescriptions for physical needs only. But not for any mental needs. That the extended Travolta family thought that Jett was autistic. However scientology people do not believe that autism even exists. The church of science does not believe in meds for anything.

If they don't believe in meds for anything, and if the news reports are true that the Travoltas took their son off of anti-seizure medication and he was having a grand mal seizure every week, then shouldn't the Travoltas be charged with child neglect for not giving their son proper medical care? He should have been on anti-seizure meds and if he wasn't because they're scientologists and don't believe in meds, isn't that neglect?

You make some good points. The news says the boy was properly supervised. Its a sad situation to have your child die. My heart goes out to the Travoltras. I don't know enough about their personal beliefs or if the boy was on medicine or if they don't believe in taking medicines to make an educational comment about that. I have been reading some of the other comments, some people have listed articles, I have skimmed some of it.

Well no they don't believe in Jesus Christ. Scientologist Probably do believe in doctors, the people you are think of is the Church of Christian Science. Scientology believes that some guy had to many aliens in his kingdom, so he brought them to earth put them in volcanoes and blew off a bunch of nuclear bombs. Now they become human or something, and some of them are spirits that haunt us, and you have to be audited or else you can't be freed from them. They get large amounts of information on you, and black mail you into staying and paying.

Scientology was established by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer who professed to have found a new science of mental health, which he called 'Dianetics'. It is actually an amalgam of pre-existing theories, Eastern religious thought, and quack ideas, some of which DO involve space aliens and reincarnation. In the 1950's he incorporated a church known as the Church of Scientology, which shielded him from charges of practicing therapy without a license. Scientology has long been an outspoken critic of pyschiatry and psychology, which in turn have opposed Scientology as menace to mental well-being. The central idea of Scientology is that human beings have something known as the 'Reactive mind', whose sole purpose is to record all events related to physical or emotional trauma. These records, known as 'engrams' were the way we originally learned to avoid danger or pain. Rather like a cat which jumps onto a hot woodstove and thereafter will never come near that woodstove, hot or cold. Unfortunately, humans often include in their engramatic memories a number of things NOT related to the actual pain.

In order to truly understand Scientology one must understand how it came to be in the first place. L. Ron Hubbard was a follower of Aleister Crowley. I'm sure many of you know who Crowley is. If not, I wrote an article which shows who he was and more than just him. Hubbard was a satanist. Scientology is just a religion that was founded by him to gain more converts without saying they worship Satan. The link to my article is below, if you are interested in reading it. As I said, it is about more than just Hubbard and Scientology. http://hubpages.com/hub/Do-What-Thou-Wilt

Sometimes, I really wonder about the state of people's minds on this website. If Scientologists followed Jesus Christ then would they not be Christians? Yes? Scientologists believe in the dark lord Xenu. I really know nothing beyond what South Park has tought me, sadly. I am not overly interested in it either. From the little information I have collected, they seem to be cult like and interested in gathering money from its members. Not to mention, those who follow it do not seem to be in the best state of mind (take Tom Cruise, for a prime example). From what I have seen, you are a Baptist? I think you should fundamentally know what your bible teaches. These people are not going to heaven and don't follow Christ (neither do I though, so what can I say). But, its what you believe. Maybe for some bizarr reason Scientologists are right and the dark lord Xenu created the physical realm and implanted crazy religions into our minds, maybe not. The fact remains that Scientology is a sketchy belief at best (but what, really, isn't a sketchy belief?).

I took a look at the article on Scientology on wikipedia, then checked out some of the sources. From other things I've read and news programs I've seen on television about Scientology, the wikipedia article is very accurate. If you want to know more you might want to check it out. Very interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology

Yeah, most of my favorite hollywood actors are members of Church of Scientology( Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Katie Holmes).. As what i've read, scientology was founded by a science fiction author named L. Ron Hubbard. According to Scientology beliefs, humans are immortal spiritual beings(thetans) which have lived several lifetimes. That's the only thing i know about it..=)
