Reminders...

Now that the new year is here, I sit down with a new wall calendar and need to log in everyone's birthdays, special occasions and Holidays, anniversaries, important dates and remind me notes. Does everyone do the same? When you get a new calendar for the new year do you write down all the important dates for you to remember?

Yes, I generally do, then misplace the house calendar. Howard, you'd better not have forgotten to put in mine or the kid's b-days!

I have a desk diary that I transfer the information from last year's diary to this year, I always do it religiously on New Year's Day my friend, transferred dates, birthdays, special occasions etc, I also like to see what day of the week my birthday falls on next year and when Christmas Day is next year! I also transfer addresses and contacts across, and the ones I don't use any more I miss out. I like to be fully organized and a great way to start the new year!

@Marcyaz I would be so lost without a calendar. I love keeping records of things I have to do.

Well, I don't think that I can plan out a whole year in advance directly at the beginning of the year. So remind me notes are out of question. And usually, important holidays and special occasions in the course of the year are marked in red in our calendars here, so we don't have to make that extra effort. But marking out the birthdays is a good plan, indeed. I think I should start doing it. What I do write on a calendar are my exam routines as and when they come. I really like crossing them out one by one as each one is finished. It gives me a visual feel of how many days I've got left until freedom. But I'm at the end of such a life. Soon even my college days will be over. Then perhaps, I'll have to think of using the calendar more like you use it now. Perhaps I'll be writing out important meeting dates and more such official things over there. Cheers.

I don't write birthdays or anniversaries on my calendars howard because I somehow always remember them. I only need to write appointments as they come.

I used to write in things on my calendars all the time but now I just put the little sticker up on the date each month when my dog needs his heart worm pill.

Hello howard96h, I don't do it anymore as I have more and more dates to remember! Few years back, I only circled the date of birth of all my 25 nieces and nephew and my immediate family plus a few important dates in my own life but now, I have more and more dates to remember!

Hello howard96h, I can't and that's the reason I stop remembering those dates. I only make sure that I really remember a few most important dates like my wedding date, my husband's, son's and mom's birthday. The rest...if they are lucky, they get the wish from me

I used to do that, but now I have pretty much everyone's birthday memorized, and if I don't have the exact day memorized, I know the month and at what point of the month the birthdays are. I also don't really send cards or anything like that on people's annniversaries, and of course I know when my own is. When it comes to the kids school activities or upcoming parties or what ever, I hang up the invitations, or a reminder on my fridge.

That's good if you can remember them. Even though I know my families birthdays sometimes I get so busy I'll forget to call but seeing it on my calendar reminds me. Thanks for your reply.

Actually, I have an excellent memory when it comes to birthdays. Not only family but friends as well. I do write down social activities we have coming up or any doctor appointments since I may not remember the times but won't forget the date. I keep a calendar above my computer and on the back I list all doctor's and their phone numbers or other important information I may need to know later and am too lazy to look up.

I gave up on wall calendars long time ago, Howard. Even when I wrote everythign down, I still forgot because I never looked at the darn thing. lol Instead, I have a free yahoo account that I'll never give up and have all my important dates on my own yaho calendar. I can also send it to other people if needed or print it out if I have to. Yahoo also reminds me when an important date is coming up so I have time to either send cards or just a b-day wish.

Yes my calendar is filled with birthdays, holidays, school functions, pta meetings, after school activities. If I dont write down everything then I will forget it. My kids are active so I am constantly going going going. My husband always buys me a new calendar so I can get my life organized lol.

Actually I dont and I do end up in a bit of trouble with one person or another each year. I always check first to see which day my birthday and Christmas will fall on and then allow all else to fall in place in their own time. Needless to say they dont always do so.
