Are your resolutions realistic?

But, it’s time to say goodbye to 2008. And while the problems of the past year won’t disappear with the dropping of a ball, we all have things to look forward to with the passing of time. This new beginning is an annual blessing that encourages us to reach higher, go farther and dream bigger. I’m looking forward to staying healthy, pursing my educational goals and spending more time with my family. Yes, it’s a small list but these are important things. I’ve learned over time that realistic goals are the ones that get achieved. There’s hard work involved, though the rewards far outweigh the effort. Maybe you’re finally ready to start a business, change careers, truly commit to losing weight, or just start being nicer to the people around you. Whatever your goals may be, make sure you have the resolve to meet your resolutions. So are your resolutions acheivable--really?

I believe mine are realistic enough.. I plan on being a millionaire by the end of the month.. and then on to finding a cure for the common cold by March... and spend the rest of the year taking over the world single handed while looking fabulous in my new body!

I would have to say that my goals this year are pretty realistic. I only have a few goals and one is to loose 50lbs which I should be able to do if I really work at it by the end of the year even though I can probally loose more weight then that. Also try to get another job which could be harder then my first goal since not to many places are hiring.

I like the sound of that! A resolution that you can definitely keep. I gave up on the weight loss resolutions...my problem would be that once I lost the weight I would celebrate all of the weight back on!

I believe that they are achievable as well as realistic and I am working to make them a reality. I figured it was time to get on or off the pot and this time stick to the reality of things and that is why I am doing what I can to change things for me.

Yes, I want to be 160 lbs and a size 12 by the end of the year. I am at 170 lbs now, so I know that I can do it, I just have to really work hard for it.

Not only mine, but everyone should take realistic resolutions, because that will take you initially a step ahead towards your goal. Generally I do not over think about any resolution, and I just decide that i have to do this thing, and I go for it. Sometimes I take hard resolutions, and say to myself that if can go on with it, it is well and good, but if I can't life will not stop. So I just take things casually.

Yes, my resolutions are very realistic. They are goals that I know I can reach as long as I continue to keep them in sight. If I waver from those things I want to accomplish, I will not reach my goals. My resolutions are to change my image to look, act, and feel more professional. I will get my hair cut and styled, I will go to the gym at least once a week, I will build my business, I will make it a point to make time for myself. The way I look at it, anything I want to change and get better in my life, I have to actively work to make it happen.

well resolutions are taken to leave a bad habit with the old year and pick up a good habit with the coming year. people chose it that way. though all this new year tradition is not ours but yeah we all celebrate it in a big way.when i was a teenager i used to keep resolutions but unfortunately never able to keep them all along the year. either they went down in few days or few months. since the resolutions that you have mentioned about yourself are the necessary ones and without them it would be difficult for you to survive.so it is better that you keep all these things inmind through out the year to make yourself a better human being. knowledge is something which should enlighten your inner soul.

My resolutions are achievable and realistic because I am positive that I WILL achieve them, they are attainable but they won't be easy, but when has anything in life been easy? I have set myself two ultimate goals for 2009, moving out and getting myself a place to live on my own and getting myself a job, the two go together and it will take a lot of planning, hard work and savings but I am prepared to do it, and I am determined. I think if you want something bad enough you will get it. It will be an adventure and being a Taurean, being stubborn I will achieve my resolutions!

Hey LuvBrOwn13s, I sure hope my resolutions are realistic because I don't want to waste alot of time and energy working on the impossible :). Like you one of my new 2009 goals is to working on myself and my health. I also want to strive in my spiritual and emotional health, as well as my relationships with God and others. So I have alot to concentrate on. Just prior to the the New Year I sat down and wrote what I call my 4-yard plan in each of these areas. Trying to make sure that each goal was realistic and reachable if I would apply myself, and be honest with myself. So I believe they are realistic whether I reach them or not, for me it is my willingness to apply myself to meet my goals and resolutions and the challenge for the year. My resolutions are realistic, but I won't know if I can reach them until I actually do! So like you I have resolved to meet my resolutions. Good luck, be happy, be joyful in 2009 -- redeeming the time. Oohcute2340

I don't make a lot of resolutions for the new year because if you have too many it is hard to achieve them. I learned this a long time ago. So what I do each year is just make a list of a few things that I want to accomplish and work at those. My resolutions are achieveable. I am going to be serious about losing weight, keep in better contact with my friends and family and work harder on writing my poems. I want to get at least one of my poems to win in a contest this year. I do believe that all three of these are achievable.

I'd rather say am not a realistic at that by now. Well basically I just don't believe in new year's resolution. I had goals I want to met before and was considering them like one but then I find myself not attaining them so I stopped making some. It is just very attractive to plan for a new year's resolution but I guess many haven't attained or kept them at all. For some reason they may be hard to keep or just simply forgot to keep them. What am doing now is to make simple goals; goals that are quite attainable so it would not be frustrating not to keep them. I also have to foresee the resources I'll be having to attain them.
