I'm a member of Helium. I really enjoy writing for them and there is a lot of earning potential where this site is concerned. You can write for the marketplace and if your article is chosen, you'll get the alloted amount of money the magazine is offering. I've seen articles needed for $180 on there then some as low as $8. You can get in the contests and make a little chunk of money too.The more writing stars you get the more money you make for your articles. It is very very important to rate articles to because if you don't have a rating star you can't get their upfront payments for your articles. If you have 5 of these at the end of the month..you get an extra $3. They use paypal too. Good luck and have fun writing!

I am a member of Helium. It is a good community. It can be a bit frustrating with their rating/star system. You can have several stars and then have them taken away, by people leapfrogging their articles. And, at other times it will go up and down.
But, at the same time you can leap frog an article and have it end up worse in ratings, then before you changed it.
Don't forget to check their marketplace section often. There is a lot of competion, but it is fun to try and the pay is usually pretty good if yours gets picked. And, if it doesn't it will still get published on Helium, plus get a kill fee if you have the required star.
