How many of you give?

I belong to a local freecycle.org group. Today I gave a lady an old dresser that I had that was falling apart and I needed it moved out of my storage building, so that I can move out of it quicker. I felt good afterwards and I felt like she will really be able to use it and put some much needed love into it. How many of you are a member of this wonderful group and offer things often or take up the offers often? I try to post at least one item every few months. I almost always have something that I can get rid of that someone else could use. I rarely take offers, unless I really need something, because I almost always feel like someone else could use the item more than me.

We have Community Living here. They phone every month or so to see if we have anything to give. This is a great way to get the things we no longer need to those that don't have as much.
I also give things to friends in need before I give them to Community Living if I am aware of their needs.

I give to my friends and family members first and foremost.... you take care of your own first.... then, since i volunteer at a women's shelter, i give most of my cooking items, clothes and bulky furniture to them, but if i have just 1 or 2 things i'll offer it in freecycle first. or if i have something that i know that the shelter can't use or something that my friens don't want, i'll offer it online.

I too belong to this group. Mine is through Yahoo, I love the site because it is nice to find people that could always use the stuff that I keep put away. Like one time I put a pack of diapers on their and not even 24 hours later someone needed them. I felt great knowing that I am putting diapers on a baby who needs them. It is a great site. Knowing that if you don't need something you can allow/give the stuff away to someone that can use. It is a way to help the needy with out doing a whole lot of work.

It's such a great feeling to know that someone can benefit from things that you no longer use. Things that would otherwise be thrown away. I love the fact that I can just start boxing up stuff and find someone who wants my junk.
