Do you think studying in a different country is something that sounds very exciting?
Are you like many young people who leave home to study in another country thinking you will have lots of fun?
Certainly, it is a new experience, which brings the opportunity to discover fascinating things and a feeling of freedom.
In spite of these advantages, however, there are also some challenges you will encounter. Because your views may clash with the different beliefs, norms, values and traditions that exist in different countries, you may have difficulty adjusting to a new culture and to those parts of the culture not familiar to you.
What's your opinion?

I am a student studying abroad in Malaysia, well, I reside in Saudi Arabia and there the way of living, culture, religion, people everything is so different to what i am used to back there. There are a lot of difficulties being alone in a different country. The main thing is that you are fully responsible for what you do. You have to deal with so many things which till now your parents might be dealing with. This is not so easy to do, but all this will give you some advantages later in life, if=n your professional life.
For me a degree from abroad would be really very valuable, and if i do my internship here and I plan to do masters from USA or UK. I think work experience in malaysia and UK or USA would be the best thing to do. Studying abroad is valuable but you have to face a very difficult time. You get freedom but that is to certain extent. You will later be bored of that freedom. At the end you will get to know people, you will have an experience to deal with people, that will have a positive effect.

I think that studying abroad can be a good idea, though not for everyone. I think that there are only a few for whom it would be a good idea and who would benefit from it. Some people are meant to study abroad, while others for whom it would be a better idea to study in their home country, or home town. I think it really depends on the kind of person you are.

Basically, everything if it is related about study and especially study abroad, we need to really concern on this issue. A further study is a really important case for everyone to consider, without good educational background, we will be very hard to compete with others in this challenging world. While studying abroad, actually many things we can absorb from this new country, such as: new cultures, foods, and the technology that the country has created.

hi, I am too thinking of studying abroad, it excites me , new people, new things , freedom. But these things are certainly a challange for me. If in case i could adjust myself in the environment that would be the worst thing, missing family and friends is another factor. so i am still thinking about it, my parents support me alot. Its me who is confused..hehe

yah happyforever...it is really exciting because studying abroad is also studying the country itself: the people and their beliefs and customs and language, the weather conditions, the political and social and economical status and conditions, etc. :)

It will be so exciting to study abroad as everything is different. The culture, the language, food etc. I like the difference. But usually studying abroad is also very expensive. And I think it's better to think about it because you don't want to waste the money in vain to just experience the different life. You have to know that you will earn back the money when you graduate. And living alone in a different country isn't easy at all. And you have to think about it carefully, too.
I love China

Hello There.
For me, yes, it will be very exciting and a new experience if I will be able to study in other countries. When I was in college, we had a classmate who decided to study here for his English language. He was from Korean and he needs to study English language because he will be applying for a job in USA and his family will be staying there for quite sometime. His mother is Filipina that is why he enrolled in our university. I know he was so excited because he learned our culture and they explored our country. They went to different places visiting tourist spots and other provinces. He just stayed in our country for a year though but we learned from him a lot and his culture! It is really really cool!
Goodluck and thanks for the discussion! Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

Well, i would say studying abroad is good because you can learn new stuff and make new friends but for those that come from really different cultures, it make take more time for them to adjust.
I personally would not choose to study overseas as I do not think i can handle the culture shock. I remembered a friend who went overseas to study, and she couldn't take the culture shock. Her parents has to fly in and stay with her for 6 months before she can fully recover and continue her studies.
Currently, I am studying somewhere further from my home but still in the same country. And i still travel back constantly cause i miss home and my mum even more! =)

When I was in school we had a student come and live with us for a semester. She was from Spain and we did everything we could to make her feel welcome. Accomadating her for the semester. It was a great experience for the whole family as we learned so much. I actually still talk to her this day and she was at my wedding and I was at her's. I was a great experience and we built a life long friendship out of a very short visit.

Yes. That's true if you go abroad you'll meet some difficulty in understand the culture of that country. But you'll communicate with the local people fruently, know more differences between theirs and yours and gradually you maybe will look this country, your own country even whole world in a wider view. Opptunity and challege are co-existed.

Well, I am one of those few people who actually want to go abroad and learn. Like you said, i want to discover awesome things and enjoy the feeling of freedom". The challenges that you mentioned are in fact reasons for me to want to go abroad. I wanna know different beliefs, values and traditions. I wanna try adjusting to a new culture, irrespective of how unfamiliar it is to me. I am of the opinion that I have stayed at my home country long enough to know about it.. I do not want to be protected in my Country. I want that adventure of going abroad.
I think I would have fun..

While the advantages of studying abroad are numerous, we cannot turn our back to its drawback.
If you are to study abroad where you have not a friend, sometimes you would feel lonely. Your newly met friends may treat you very nice. But there would still be some differences from your friends in your own country. The gap is always there. I had this feeling strongly, especially when I was alone at my own room.
But if you can overcome this, you can learn to be independent ~

studying abroad is a pretty good adventure ... you'll get to know some new friends and you'll hang up on the city's good restaurant and hanging places ... but going abroad is not that easy ... like talking about leaving your friends and family and being home sick ... and every country has its traditions and cultures and some people are not that friendly ...
