I know many people who have family in the service, and a few who have lost family in this war. I was wondering jsut how many here at my lot have a loved one that is in the service to thier counrty? My dad and grandfathers served, but my brothers grew up during peace time. My sons are either too young or not eligiable to serve. I know a lot of women who also have been or are in service too. anyone here?

My husband was in the Air Force during the Vietman War, serving in Air Rescue. And my older brother was in the Navy during that time, too.

My husband is retired from the Air Force and I was in the Air Force. That is where I met him when I was stationed in Turkey. We met and found we loved each other after spending time together and got married. I spent four years in the Air Force. He retired from it and we have talked about that he did a good thing by staying in. Not only because of the retirement check but also because of the Health benefits we have.

that is a sweet story! Thanks for sharing. I guess there are a lot of people who got great benefits from the military. But my heart goes out to those who have lost family as well. Thanks for sharing!

I have cousin who is currently in The Royal Marines. He has serves in both Afghanistan and Iraq although, I think he has been to Afghanistan twice. My grandfather (mothers father) served his national service just after the Korean war i believe and, his brother was a soldier in the war although, he left as he was shot in the leg.

My dad, my grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc were all in the military.
My generation and our kids have not been in the military at all.
With the Iraq and Afghanistan thing going on, I'm glad none are.
I feel sorry for all the friends and family of the people who go off and get
killed or hurt.
