According to Mayians the world will be ending 12.23.12. Does anyone else believe this? Should I be preparing to survive? Should I be living a carefree life? I have also heard of profecies by Nostradomas (sorry for the spelling) that the world will be ending soon.

The world should have ended years ago according to Nostradamus so I wouldn't worry about his predictions now. We will never know when the world is going to end exactly unless it breaks down slowly and scientists can predict it. and if the world truly ended there would be no chance of survival so there's no point planning for it, I doubt it will happen in our lifetime anyway.

There were (or are) several different Mayan calendars used for recording different time periods. Wikipedia says (towards the end of the article): "The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by José Argüelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about December 21, 2012, a forecast that mainstream Mayanist scholars consider a misinterpretation, yet is commonly referenced in pop-culture media as the 2012 problem. "For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies, Inc. in Crystal River, Florida. To render December 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in." " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_calendar

And here we are, 2020, plenty of people made money on that myth but not as much as they had hoped. Sandra was right.

Well there was also this prediction that the world will end in the year 2000 as well, and here we are still alive at 2009. Only God know when the world will end...so just enjoy life while you can.

Someone's world ends every few seconds (they die) and you never know when your turn will be. The most we can expect is 80 years or so on this planet, whether it explodes or whatever or we just die of old age. My advice is be good to yourself and others, laugh often, and whatever you do beyond that, whatever happens to you, good or bad, be thankful it's not your world's turn to end just yet. Now is all you have. Embrace it.
