Is it true late term abortion can aid a mother's health?

It's an issue in Kansas (I beleive) that late term abortions (please read all my post) are being carried out if the mother is depressed.. Some are very late term; how can terminating the baby help the mother's health more than inducing labor, birthing the baby and giving them up for adoption. I cannot understand the reasoning..

i live in Missouri right across state line of kansas so this is close to home. And yes the mother has to either have a physical reason or emotional reason to have a partial birth abortion done...and yes depression can be an emotional reason used to have this done.. I can not understand the reasoning on it either. i mean if you are 8 months along...let them induce labor and let the baby live. This is the one thing I WILL NEVER EVER understand... How anyone can say that what is in the picture below is ok...makes me shiver

I once had an abortion late in the pregnancy by saline injection,as far as helping your mental health i just watch the video that others gave to view and it made every filling of what i did come back and right now i feel numb so from my own experience this pratice should be banned for life and i would like to add i am the one who took the baby out of the toilet and ask god to forgive me it was the worst thing i have ever done.

I cannot imagine your pain and I applaud you for speaking out against this practice. Do you mind me asking if you had any counselling or advice before this procedure was done?

Li'L babe - a very cute baby
How does taking the life of the babe, especially at such late stage (or any stage for that matter?) help anyone's mental health? Wouldn't the very opposite be true? If you had mental health problems wouldn't you hear your babies cries in your dreams for the rest of your life? This is oNe reason why I believe this is the largest scam of all the many heinous acts of 'abortion'/infanticide.

Here is a good one for you.. Did you know that the federal government gives planned parenthood millions of dollars each year? No it is not used for the abortions but you know what they do with it..they fight the federal government to keep it leagal. Our tax money is being given to them so they can keep fighting the governemt..with our tax dollars...it is just unbelievable message me if you want to get on a petition to defund planned parent hood..i will send it to you

I can't believe that is happening. Doesn't the body go thru the same process after an abortion as it does a birth? (lochia, etc.) Or are we talking about something different here? This is so disappointing, there are so many families that want more then anything to adopt a baby because they can't have their own.

I would think so.. and then what a let down to the body, getting ready to nurture a baby, but there's now no baby.. So here's another reason why I can't see how it could ever help anyone's mental health! [Good point, thanks.] And a baby that late term could more easily be born and, yes, given for a loving couple to adopt.. The mother's body would still have the trauma of no baby to nurture, but at least the baby would have their life, and the depressed mother doesn't have to think of how the baby didn't get to live. I don't think women 'in trouble' always think of the angle that whatever abortion is, it is also a profit making business. That's why when I heard this certain news report, I saw it as an abuse against not just children/babies, but against women.

You have a point there. I did have a bit of a late term abortion but I also had a 6mo old child at home to care for so I did not have any depression, but I can understand why someone could.

Wow, I didn't know that was happening. So when I'm depressed, can I "abort" the people that are ticking me off?

I am pro-choice but I do not like abortions... However, I have read Cases of what woman attempted to do to self abort before it was legally done in clinics. Either Way, Partial Birth Abortion to me, there is No excuse at all for.. I believe if a person has to abort best to be done in the first or second Trimester.. Althought I would rather see people give up their children for adoption.... but on the other hand it is also not right to force a person who carry a child if they are not mentally able to understand or deal with it..... In some cases where a mentally challenged person was raped by another Mentally Challenged person is there is no one able to help, It is not fair to a person who is in this state that has no understanding to be forced to carry a child..... however if they can understand the decide on their own. I firmly believe it should be up to the Mother to choose weather to Carry or Abort, and her doctor. It should not be the business of anyone else... For some people in Rape cases abortion is less traumatic, for others the thought of it is more traumatic.. So when you think of the mothers health do not just think Physical Health but are they mentally able to handle adoption, abortion, or a child?... Later term abortion I am not for at all. But again, this is my own opinions, I believe the mother and the doctor should be able to make these descision and no one else unless it is a the case of where a caregiver/case manager is involved with a mentally challenged. - DNatureofDTrain

..that was a very good post.. but I always disagree with the idea that abortion is not anyone's business.. as it takes a life, and therefor it is to me, definitely a social issue.. I'm not as much for overturning roe v wade, as I am for lots more birth control, and for abortion to be a lot less acceptable.. I have a beef with both sides of the issue, for right to live, is often against birth control! (Say what!!? That's insane!) And pro choice is supporting a mega million dollar (inhumane) business - hence rational birth control seems to be a non topic. This reminds me of the 'twilight zone' big time. :)

I do not understand it either. I just saw some videos on this topic and for a doctor to shove scissors into a babies head and then suck out it's brain is so wrong. How can anyone say they are not murdering their baby when they do this?

My husband who's a truck driver and listens to lots of radio heard an abortion doctor describe the procedure for second term abortion. My hubby said he wanted to pull the truck/18 wheeler over to the side of the road and have a good cry, as they pull the baby out piece by piece and pile up the arms and legs and head on the table before throwing out to make sure they got it all. It's also dangerous for the mother as they hook something inside and have to jerk it really hard and the doctor said there's no way they can tell if they are pulling on the baby or a piece of the mother.. of course no one bothers to go into any of these details with the mother (it would be politically incorrect I guess perhaps even illegal!) A first trimester termination sucks the baby out in pieces. - My husband also a while back heard a nurse on the radio say she would never help with another abortion after seeing the babes arms stretch out in horrific shock when the scissors were inserted.

Late term abortion is worse than just simply taking the baby out in pieces I have read on both types of aboritons and the one you are thinking of is the early one. here's a link http://www.pregnancy.mb.ca/quote-3.htm but I do warn you that even reading what is on this site will probably make you cry. I mistakingly read "What The Nurse Saw" and couldn't stop crying. Abortion done either way is horrific.
