Do you have a home gym? What type of exercise equipment do you use?

Hello, do you have a home gym? I don't but have been considering it. I do have an IFIT Treadmill, that is wonderful because of its pre-programmed walking programs that includes inclines, and I don't have to worry about doing it manually. I also have an ABLounger, which I like because it allows me to stretch through to the arch of my back and crunch up tight. I have recently added the WAVE from the firm that is a really alot of fun, giving a boost to any excercise routine. But the item I love the best that I have added to my fitness program this year is the Core Rhytms salsa dance videos, it is so much fun to do. So what are do you have in your fitness routine that motivates you to excercise? Be happy, be joyful = oohcute2340

Yes we do. We just got a Malibu Pilates chair,we have a rebounder, tredmill, walkblaster, gazelle, and an ablounge. I am trying to sell the gazelle and ablounge though. We have freestanding weights. We have stability balls. We have medicine balls. We have ankle wieghts. We even have the wedge. We have over 20 exercise dvds including Tae Bo. Now if only I were more fit..... It takes lots of motivation no matter where your gym is. But today is a new day and I have been on the pilates chair 3 times today. I feel the burn.

I have a Nordic Track that we found at the thrift store for $3.00!! It is in like new condition! They didn't know what it was so they didn't know what to price it. I have a treadmill I bought at Kmart during the off season for exercise equipment. It was a floor model so I got it even cheaper than the normal price. Hooray for Blue Light Specials! And finally, I have a stationary bike that I purchased at half the cost at a flea market. It was one of those things people buy and never use. I put them all in my basement and set up a little t.v and I have been watching "24" season one on DVD while exercising. It is great because I get so into the show, I forget I am working out. I rode the bike 13.7 miles today!

That is great, kudos on 13.7 miles today. You must be a real bargain hunter, I haven't found any great deals lately, we have a store here in town that sells gently used sports equipment and I think I will check it out soon. Thank you for your response and the best of luck in your fitness goals in 2009, be happy, be joyful, be strong, oohcute2340

I have no motivation to exercise. By the time I get done working, I am beat and just want to sit and chill out. We do have a treadmill in our basement. We also have a mini trampoline and wrestling mats down there. My kids use these items all the time.

Hi Sunshine, I know what you mean, fortunately I have got to retire early in my working career. But when I was working I was the same way, although back then I was so active I didn't need to exercise to stay in shape, I was just constantly going from early morning into the very late hours. Now I have to push myself less I become a complete couch potato. Thank you for your honesty and response. Be happy, be joyful -- oohcute2340

I don't have a home gym. I do have a treadmill. And my hubby has some free weights. I have a few videos. But these things have seen a serious lack of use. I have been pregnant this year. Just had a c-section Dec 10. Losing the baby weight is my current motivation.

Hello again ersomommy1, just go slow and follow doc's advice with a c-section you don't want to complicate health issues, walking is a great way to help stay in shape. I have a stash of exercise videos too, what I have found at my weight and age I don't want to get on the floor, so I have chosen videos like Salsa dancing and this I can do and get results, I love to dance so it is easy to be motivated. Best wishes in your 2009 endeavors, be safe, be happy, be joyful -- be strong, oohcute2340

I belong to a gym so most of the time, I get my workout in there. We have an IFIT treadmill as well and I use it to work out on when I can't get to the gym. We also have an exercise bike and free weight dumb bells. We have a spare room that we keep our equipment in that's equipped with a tv so it doesn't get boring.

Thank you LaurenInLa - I have done the gym thing in the past, but the older I get the less I want to hassle with going out to the gym for exercise, I don't work so I am not out and about alot during the day. It's cool that you have a separate room dedicated to working out, we live in very very small home and don't have extra space so everything is dispersed about the house. Its nice to have equipments for workout at home, but basically what i have at home is a pair of bump bells which i do not use now a day. I regularly do workout at home and but I only concentrate in doing ground exercise, i think that is more than necessary to keep my body fit, but now a days i feel more attracted towards martial arts and is planning to join some classes, the range of exercise that they provide are great.

Thank you vindiku, I too have been interested in the martial arts mostly for the disipline and philosophy that is taught in Martial Arts, unfortunately for me now it's the cost thing that is prohibitive to joining a Marital Arts program or a gym so I must rely on what I already have available. Good luck in your future endeavors with Martial Arts. Enjoy and be happy. oohcute2340
