How do you promote your blog?

I started visiting linkreferral.com recently and have had a bunch of visitors in exchange from there. Some people hate it, but it seems OK to me. Entrecard, I didn't really like - far too much setting up, fiddling with code, faffing with graphics. Strangely, I seem to get a fair few visitors from BlogCatalog, of all places - I would never have expected that at all. To get listed, I totally lucked out and ran across a blog yesterday that has a 350-search submit thing on it, absolutely free. Let me hunt down the URL... http://www.official.my No guarantees on that - it's not mine. I just found it by accident! I gave it a false email ID (or rather a spam-filtered one), but haven't been hit by anything bad at all yet. Looks entirely legitimate. I didn't use the IE download, by the way, despite using IE. The basic submit button worked fine. As for regular visitors, it usually takes 9-12 months to build up a decent following, unless you're writing about a very popular subject. Content is king, as they say. Good luck!

one way that I promote my blogs is to comment on other blogs. Entrecard is a good idea. Join blog rolls. Join mybloglog. one way to get the search engines to place you higher is to write really good content that is original. I can think of some more ideas later.

Do a lot of blogwalking.. visit high ranking websites and leave comments! =) then try to exchange links with them.. i used to have high ranking blogs before but they all dropped to page rank 0.. maybe because i've stopped updating blogs... yay!
