what do you mean experementing? on products that is good for my hair? or hair styles? in products for example in shampoo. in our country you can buy a small pack of shampoo. this small pack is used only in one bathing. that is chaep and very good idea isntead of buying a big container or bottle then when your hair does not approve of it, it will just be in waste. i am a singer and i need to syle my hair depends on where i am going to sing and what am i wearing. so i need to find products that i will use to my hair that my hair would not be damage. i put coconut oil too every once in a while for my mom siad coconut oil is good for the scalp and hair. hope i did answer your question.

Seems like you are having good time with your hair. I am not sure that I am using the right products but then it is hard to judge one. How do you go about experimenting with them?

HAHA.. Love the title to this discussion " Hair challenged"..Made me laugh! Oh yes. I can relate to being hair challenged after a hair cut. The girl that gave me bangs/fringe last month didn't cut it right now I look like I have a cow lick on my right side not unless I use hair gel, hairspray, blow dryer and flat iron to get it to calm down...lol..Maybe she did do it right and my hair is rebelling to having bangs/fringe.I think it maybe a bit of both, bad haircut and rebelling hair..LOL,.. It actually isn't noticeable once I style it.I'm so glad my hair grows quickly..LOL

Just wish my hair could grow a bit faster. Had it been so, I would have experimented with them a bit too.

I have different ways that I do my hair. I can wear it curly, which is a lot of work. I have to wash it with clarifying shampoo, then a conditioning shampoo, then curly conditioner then rinse. Then I have to part my hair in four sections and then take each section and apply leave-in conditioner for each section. Then I comb out with a brush-comb and then spread moose-foam throughout the ends of my hair. It looks quite nice when I am done though. I don't like doing it because I have to do it everyday.
If I want to wear my hair straight, I have to wash it with the clarifying shampoo, then a shampoo/conditioner Suave and then wash again with another cleansing shampoo just to make sure it gets clean. Then I follow up with conditioning shampoo. Rinse. Then I part in four sections and apply leave-in conditioner and a light oil that I use for pressing. I blow dry my hair in the four sections, then I flat iron in four sections as well. I can wear my hair this way for about a week so all the trouble is kind of worth it because I don't have to do anything to my hair everyday like when I wear it curly.

I have very thick and long hair (can't stand my hair short). It is just shoulder length at the moment, but I still go through brushes weekly. They just don't last for me. It takes a long time to brush it and for it to dry after showers. My hair is very staticy so I quit using the hair dryer and just let it air dry which takes a good three hours if I brush it off and on during that time...... so I don't! Just one brush, but LOTS of time.

My hair used to be a lost cause and then I started using a flat iron and it works. My hair is cute most of the time. I still have a funny hair line at my bangs and they don't want to participate sometimes, but most of the time it looks great. I hated them days that my hair just did not work right.

Flat iron usually works with most of the face cuts. So, you have got the solution. Nice.

Enjoy your hair while you have it. When you start to lose it, it is a long time gone. It might seem like a chore but the alternative is like some I see with the new fashion, all shaved off.
Myself I decided a few years ago to let it grow long and it is a pain to keep but the alternative is to be bald. I figured I had better grow it long while I still had some on top to grow long. It is thinning there but if you look at me the right way in a dark room you cannot tell. Unfortunately the sides are greying finally and with a toque on in the winter and if I do not pull my hair back I look like a homeless person.

Loosing hair certainly doesn't come good to many and I can figure it out quite well as I am gifted with two half moons on both sides myself.

Nope, my hair is fairly easy to take care of. It is really long, thick, wavy and fizzy at times. BUt easy to maintaion. depending on what I plan on doing with is what I use. I tend to use a brush, a pick and some gel, Sometimes a comb.

my hair has always been very fine and very limp, and there is not much of it. I mostly just wear it loose or in a ponytail.

I usually don't have time to battle with my hair, I usually travel to the office even if my hair is still wet then I just tie them up into a ponytail once it is already dry. So I always have long hair, I find it more manageble that way.

I go through this sometimes. But I usually pull my hair in a pony tail when I can't get it to do right.

haha,that is funny
takes three hairbrushes for you to get your hair to look presentable...wowo...
I only need one hairbrush for my hair.sometimes i do not need one,hehe...because i have a very short hair.i like to be with short hair, because it's looks cool and after wash, they easy to dry quickly.if i do not bring a hairbrush me with when i am outside,i can easliy to use my fingers to make my hair tidy and look presentable.hehe
have you ever think about you'll change your hair style?
cheers

I just have the barber cut my hair short enough so I don't have to fuss with it. I don't need wavy hair anyway.

I find it easier for fine hair with tangles to use detangler or spray on conditoner before brushing. It is also better to use shampoo and conditioner separate. I just throw a headband in and curl the bangs as styles don't stay in my hair. A permanent makes styling easier, but I hate the tight curls I get, salon ones are too expensive, home ones are a pain--maybe you can get the curl you want, but they are usually imperfect, and sometimes they cause sores on your head. Get the right type of shampoo for your hair--I only pay a dollar each for shampoo and conditioner, but I go by season to buy it. Winter months require moisturizing shampoo, while summer months can be volumizing shampoo.
I only get haircuts usually once or twice a year and cut my own bangs plus split ends off in between. I can usually get the bangs straight enough to pass.

I'm hair challenged in a different way, being practically bald! So I don't have all these bad hair day struggles - there being very little to struggle with.

I face hair problems every day!! I have curly, frizzy hair. I hate it!! I can't just brush it and go. Even when I spend a long time doing my hair it still ends up looking crazy because it will either frizz or if I put too much hair gel in then it looks crispy and hard. There is no hope for my hair.

Whenever anyone has a bad haircut it is definitely like this. That's why I always use the same person to cut my hair. Some people just should not be working in salons. My hair most of the time is like yours, taking only 3-5 brushes to look great but when I got a haircut once I had to use all kinds of products to style it to look presentable. I tried curling irons, blow drying, gels, putty, everything and I still did not like what it looked like.
