I think I've Given Up on writing before I can even get started!

Writing articles online seem to be very time consuming and difficult considering I'm not much of a writer (more a poet) but was looking for legit ways to make quick cash online.
I registered with Associated Content, publish one article, it was a poem I did that just because I haven't had the time to research and write anything else.
Also I'm on Triond, same story, published one poem but both are really based on page views so not only do you have to write but you also have to promote, strongly, in order to get page views and get money.
I know the key is to write top articles about current events going on that people really want to read about...but if I'm looking for a quick way to earn cash then writing articles, for someone not as experienced, may not be the best way to go.
THEN WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST ROUTE???
I guess I will keep searching for the answer to that question!

Writing reviews is a great way to make some extra money for yourself. Not only that you can typically write a review on any product that you find. However, if you are starving for article ideas to write to get good money if you travel frequently or such write about the places taht you travel to. Write about your local home town area I did that and get an average of about 4 bucks upfront payment plus views from AC. Also something else that you might want to consider trying is affiliate marketing. I know it sounds kind of bad, but with marketing you will gain a wealth of information that you might not have realized before is available. Just an idea. If you want more information on marketing let me know because so many programs are scams, but I have a site that I joined and they actually teach you how to learn about marketing and where to find more great information on article writing and such.
Whatever you do though do not give up on writing! Writing is a great asset to have to get some money in even if it is sporadic.

If you are a poet, my suggestion would be to write a few and manke a compilation of your poetry and publish it. I think that many people have done so. It may not bring in quick cash, but it is residual income. I think that sites like Triond and AC (assuming you're not from the US) only bring in earnings from pageviews and it may nto be a bad thing afterall, since it is residual income. But I know that if you write poetry, the earnings at Triond is slower than writing articles. Promoting is important. I do see my earnings drop whenever I stop promoting my articles. I write for Triond too and will probably write for AC more. I only have about 5 articles there. The trick for Triond would be to write more pieces. I have 100 articles there now and earning me income every month without writing more. So in the end you will benefit if you write more. All the best, esparra! Don't despair and keep looking around for sites that may cater to your interest.

I simply copy the articles from Triond which are more than 250 words(min req of the site )and paste it on this site.. It is allowed on Bukisa.. If u intend to join you can find the link on myblog on my profile.. they also pay referal earning and the page views payment are much higher than Triond.. Thanks for your response
I actually know about that website, and I've looked into it however, I really don't use a lot of products to write reviews about, but I am a movie buff, so if anything I could think about writing movie reviews or even book reviews!
Many Blessings in 2009!

Don't give up! I too am trying to find ways to make money from my home. I am a stay at home mother of two and I need to bring in some finacial help in order to make things a little easier for my husband. We would like to have another child but we need a bigger house to do that and since am not working, it doesn't seem like a very real possibility. I join the sites that you mentioned and I have to agree with you. I have written several articles for Associated, and I have barely seen any profits. I am taking a course online to become a freelance writer, I figured that it wuld be an easy way to make money. I was wrong, there is nothing easy about it. My sugestion to you is that you read up on some writting techniques and see what happens. I know that I hear it a lot but I'm going to say it to you, NEVER GIVE UP! I know that I am going to keep trying, I love to write about anything and everything and I know that if I keep trying, one day I will get where I want to be. I know that you can too.

There are a lot of interesting topics that I want to write about but, they may not be the most popular topics among the readers, therefore not getting me the readership needed to make money from sites that pay based on pageviews.
I love writing about relationships in general, the ups and downs, the pressures women face, how to build great relationships with your kids, parents, etc
but those may not be seen as very interesting or popular topics...
If writing about any and everything I was interested in would give me the extra income that is very much possible with writing for these sites then it would be much easier.
I will not give up totally....it just seems to be more difficult and restricted then I thought...
I'm not really one to follow celebrity gossip....so writing about them all the time just for page views does not really interest me..ya know...
we shall see...I have to rethink some things and maybe approach this in a different way.
thanks! Many blessings in '09!

Quick money is not so easily reachable. I do not want to be harsh, and I am sorry if I have hurt you, but I have also the same type of experience as you have. I have tried multiple sites, wrote some articles, but they were not chosen for some reason. I got irritated slowly, and now I have stopped writing for them. But mylot is diferent, here things roll out easily. Thus I suggest you to be more patient, and then try again with some fresh air, and your articles may fetch you handsome amount. Wish you all the best.

There are no get rich quick things that work.
Sadly, most poets never do make it big. They're word artists, and suffer the same fate as other artists. Their work becomes more valuable when they pass on.
I do know of one poet who makes a good living with his poetry. He self-publishes his own poetry books, which he sells when he goes out and does poetry readings for which he is paid. But he has to work very hard at marketing himself, at booking engagements, etc.
Writers - real writers - don't settle for making pennies per view. They research real writing gigs - in magazines, newspapers, e-zines, and they write per the specifications required by the publication. Then they have to write a "perfect" inquiry letter. They follow the submission guidelines. Then they wait. Sometimes they get published. Often they get rejection slips.

thanks for your response!
Im not expecting to get rich from poetry writing but if I'm going to write then I might as well do it in something i'm good at.
I plan to submit to publishers of poetry and see if someone wants to buy some...its a passion and hobby of mind but making money from it would be a bonus! ha!
Many blessings in '09!

I made around 5 dollars from a writing site within a week of joining.. I am not a good writer though.. I earnings is increasing day by day on this site as I have few referals on this writing site.. U can find the writing site on my blog on my profile.. This is the only writing site I have come across so far which pays you 25% of what ur referals make.

Are you 'not much of a writer' because you think you aren't good at it, or because it doesn't interest you? I'm starting to see the evidence and potential of what writing articles can really do, and I'm a member of several sites that pay for posts. There are a few that accept poetry as well. It is a matter, partly, of how much time you put into it, but the idea of writing top articles about current events is really not as important as you might think. PM me and we'll chat more if you like. Maybe I can steer you in a direction that works best for you. Good luck!
