Hello mylotters, I am so surprise of ponting's decision to declare the Australian innings at that point in the game i personally thought he would've try to push the lead over 400 and ensure that they cant loose. What if the South Africans chase down the target and beat the Australian and ensure them of the white wash. Would we see the captain stepping down. What are your views please reply thanks.

A very well made decision. Its called calculated risk. They are already two down and lost the series. With all the criticisim on Ponting and knowing that Smith is injured, it is a great decision unless Australian bowlers disappoint him again...
These type of decisions are hallmarks of great captains, great victories, the confident they have in their team, their players, themselves..
Although Australia didn't have the brightest of 2008, they will surely try hard to gain their supermacy back in 2009...
Lets hopw for a good cricketing year :)
