Tell me some of the reasons that you home school? How do you pick curriculum? Do you enjoy doing it or do you feel you must? I am so unsure as to what to do and how to go about it. Help!

i donot home-school but i know of a friend, who does homeschooling,as she doesnt want her children to be polluted by unwanted theories of religion and also she doesnt want her kids ,to pick up the uncouth language used by some other children.

Thanks for responding. I help a mom homeschool 2 of her 5 children once a week. She really knows what she is doing and I am impressed. It is a big decision. I just don't know.

I homeschooled my kids for a year or so, would love to do so again but we live in Japan. Homeschooling is kind of legal here but I felt I was doing my kids a diservice because I couldn't teach what was necessary for an education in Japan. Homeschooling can be a wonderful adventure but also cause a lot of stress. Why do you feel you need to homeschool? I took my kids out because of never ending bullying, the two oldest are in different schools now (junior high and high school) and the youngest has a good teacher who won't stand for bullying. Search for home schooling, home school or home education and you will get loads of pages, places to buy books etc. Do some research and see if there is a home school group in your area, it seems that most states in America have some sort of homeschool group. Here in Japan there are people in Tokyo who get together plus a email group that I joined to exchange ideas! Good luck Jacks
