Do you spend more time sitting up or lying down when using your laptop ?

I find that I am always on my bed with my laptop.I am either on my belly with elbows to propping me up or on my back with my laptop on my knees(I get crazy laptop burns because of this though) but sometimes (but rarely )I have to change position and sit up (like I am now doing ).One thing is constant though I am always in my bed . Is anyone else in this kind of situation where they have to be lying down to use their laptop ?

I too get my laptop to my bed along with me...there are three positions which i generally use: 1) lying on my belly with the laptop on front and my chest supported by pillows..this position is cool for typing some stuff and browsing the net for a less duration... 2) Sitting back around 3 feet away from the laptop ..for watching movies and stuff.. 3) Lying on my side with the hand supporting my forehead or back of the head ...1 feet away from the laptop ..for deep analysis...

I'm always holding it either on my lap or on the bed. I never keep it on the desk because it's more comfortable this way ^^ Even though it's very bad... so I've heard... because of the dust, your laptop could get damaged in time. Mine started shutting down by itself, out of the blue, and someone here told me it was because of the dust.] *sigh* I'll have to sit at my desk from now on...

I have no idea how to do that :| I'll have to take it to a service, I think it's better if I just keep it away from dust from now on... right? Or is it already damaged if it started to shut down by itself?

I have to sit up while I do anything. I had a atv accident back in 97, which almost left me in a wheel chair. Now I can't lay down on my stomach for to long without having extreme back pains or not being able to get up at all.

Water - Water is very important for life.
I also find it difficult to operate my laptop on the bed because i am not able to sit in one position all the time every position pains me somewhere if i sit my neck pains me if i rest on elbows my hands pain me. So the position is to use a table and a chair for operating the laptop.

I have to sit up or else I will fall asleep....LOL, my hubby just got a laptop and a couple times he has sat on the couch and put it on his lap to work on it, and yes, that gets hot after awhile... I will hear him turn it on and off... then 10 minutes will go by and it will go on again...LOL and I know it was because it got to hot again... we have both a PC and the laptop, so I sit up with both of them, or else i would get to comfortable and fall asleep like I do when reading...LOL have a great night!!

I really don't know how you can do that. I have to sit at my desk or dining table and only certain chairs are comfortable. I have tried sitting up in bed with my back supported but it becomes uncomfortable very quickly. I'm guessing you are much younger than I...

When using my laptop I'm always sitting on the couch in the living room with the tv on in the background plus I'm usually feeding my 1 month old daughter while using the computer. I find it more easier to use my laptop sitting up.

So far i only wish i had a laptop. I have a desktop. I do find im on it so long a need to get off it and laydown a few to stretch the legs out or walk around. I actually get a sore as- from sitting too long. One day my mouse hand was in bad pain too. Thats too many hours in sims2 land. Can you play sims2 on a laptop? I had to add more memory to play it on my desktop w/ xp pro.

I am usually in the Den with my laptop. I sit in my regular leather chair, and put my feet upon the ottoman. I'm semi-sitting/laying, not really doing either of them. I guess you'd say I'm sort of laying half on my back, sort of scooted down in the chair. I try sitting up and quickly I am scooted down again! I have no problem typing on my laptop like this. I have a PC, but hardly ever use it in the computer room.

Hey, I have actually never ever used my laptop lying down so I wouldn't know how it feels like. So I use my laptop sitting down as in my opinion it is easier to use and concentrate. Hope this helps in your decisions aswell. Happy MyLotting!

I used to always sit on my bed when using my laptop but seems my laptop hang easily with a little shake so I always put my laptop on a chair next to my bed. However, now I already have a new desktop, therefore, I would have to sit well at the desk.

For quite some minutes i will be sitting infront of my table, lap will be there. Then slowly my back will begin to ache.I will start lay slightly, then sitting straight. When you see after 1 hr i will be completely lying on the bed. Sometimes i used to laid down with my legs keep bent(Like when you do exercise)and keep lap in my bent legs.

Sitting up. Can't do it lying down. I have to be sitting, and at a table. I can't write or anything else while lying down. Bed is for sleeping. I just can't function trying to do work on it.

I have never used my laptop when lying down. It has never even crossed my mind that anyone who is not bedridden would even try to use a laptop in such a strange position?? I am really curious as to how you can possible use your keyboard with your elbows propping you up???

On my belly, propped with pillows and elbows, in bed of course, with cookies and milk.

I find it more difficult to use my laptop when lying down. It hurts my elbows. I like to type properly and just find it easier for me to sit up while using my laptop. I would much rather be at a table with it than anywhere else. The bed and the laptop sounds good though because it seems as if it could be very relaxing. I will try that one.

I even have my desktop set up next to my bed so I can use it while I'm lying down. I actually have an adjustable bed so it doubles as a recliner, too. I have my TV and DVD player set up in here and like I said, my computer is set up on a table next to me. When I am on the computer I just move the keyboard and my trackball onto my lap and go from there. This way I can divide my attention between my computer and the TV.
