God is not a person or an entity. He does not have human features like hands, legs, face etc. What you see in tv serials are mere caricatures. The Hindu scriptures say that God is formless, has always existed, is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. He is the Supreme Soul, the Supreme Intelligence and he cannot be described. When you feel great joy then that is a sign of his manifestation.Everything is within him.He sees without eyes, hears without ears smells without a nose and talks without a tongue. He is the Creator and the destroyer too.It is very difficult for the ordinary and ignorant person to understand Him.However for the sake of the ordinary mortal he assumes the form which is dear to the person. For eg if Christ is your favourite then He will appear as Christ to you.Hope this enlightens you in a small way.God bless.

Hello veejay...
You said in The Hindu "SCRIPTURES" say that god is Formless....What is the authencity of that book.... how do you know that it has really been written by some Hrishi or God or some human who wanted to set rules according to his beliefs...?
Scriptures - Gita, Mahapuran, Upanishads, Manusmriti... books in Hindus...Bible in Christians... Al Quran in Mouslems...and so many other books...
How why?...The world today is divided more on Religious grounds than on Political or power grounds....
Many christians convert themselves to muslim, hindus to christians, Muslims to Christians or Christians to Hindus... What's the matter there? They believe in God but now a god from other religion?
I think the only thing that exists in Energy or Cosmos or something like that.... If Energy cannot be created and needs a creator...then how come God does not need Creator and just get created out of nothng...
Thanks Sid

According to my teacher in theology, God is the "Alpha" and the "Omega" which means God is the beginning and the end. According to the Book of Genesis, God's Spirit hovered over space and then created everything.
God did not come from somewhere, He was always there from the beginning.

Psalm 90:1-4 (New International Version)
Gagan, you might find it interesting to know that the same Bible writer that wrote Genesis also wrote:
Psalm 90
1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place
throughout all generations.
2 Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

3 You turn men back to dust,
saying, "Return to dust, O sons of men."
4 For a thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.
So God had no beginning and has no end. He is self-sustaining. He has unlimited self energy. No one gave it to Him. How is that possible, one might ask? Well I don't know.
Even in the physical universe, there are two things that seem endless, time and space. How is that possible? Well, I don't know. I don't even know the mechanics of my automobile. But I enjoy driving it.
Think of the biggest number you can think of. Is that the last number?
Some things that help me come to grips with that question.
Once someone told me, if I was ship-wrecked on the ocean and a rescue boat showed up. Would I need to know all the details of how the boat got there, how the boat was put together, all the names of the people that built it. Or would I just get on board and be thankful?
