Personally I think it is more of eating up your pride. Just for the sake of winning, you are ask to eat or do things which a human being shouldn't do. I can't stand seeing those contestants eating gross thing like cockroaches and worms. Conquering fear is followed by a process which is called systemic disensitization. Obviously, it is not the concept of the show, it shows on how the players badly needed money.
Would you eat gross things or do dangerous stunts, just for the sake of winning Big cash?

It would depend on the scenerio. I would definitly go on that show (if it was still running) because I know that everything that is eaten is FDA approved. While it may be disgusting, it shouldn't have any harmful side effects. As far as stunts are concerned, I am not bothered by most things. I would, at least, be willing to try those stunts. Though, I have seen the show on occasion and I know that some things would have truly bothered me (such as this one stunt they had the contestants do where they had to swim in a live shark tank and collect rings, I have a fear of water and sharks when I go in the ocean; so it would ultimately be a damper).

I don't think those cockroaches are FDA approved because those roaches can cause dreadful diseases. Obviously, the show is all about the money, not in conquering your fear.
