Tomato juice on the plane

Why is it that people only seem to drink tomato juice on the plane and now when they're on land? I find this really weird. I do it too. On long flights, I prefer drinking milk, tomato juice, and ginger ale. But when I see these in the grocery, particularly the tomato juice and ginger ale, I don't like to buy it anymore. I notice other passengers with this kind of habit as well.
