Last year when i went to Mumbai for a vacation, i went to meet a friend of mine. we lived just next doors and almost ate and spent the whole day together. But when i met her father he was not able to recognise me, he has lost his memory, actually he does his daily routine work properly but he doesn't remember the things related to past 5-10 years. Have you met such people, it happens with old age, but recently i saw one bollywood movie where the hero lost his memory to such an extent that he remembers the things which happened only 15 minutes before...and he has to write and note all the things for his daily work....have u seen such case in reality????

i have not come across a case like that in the movie in real life. they say that it is common in the united states. i have forgotten already the term that they are using for cases like this. there are cases wherein the memory is good only for one week. all memories past one week the patient cannot recall. there are those whose memory is good only for a few seconds. i believe that this is the level where it is most difficult to handle. they have a special school for persons who are suffering from this handicap. as for real life persons that i have in contact with, that will be my mother. since that time when she met that motorcycle accident more than ten years ago, she became very forgetful. she couldn't tell anymore who her neighbors are at the farm. she can't even recognize most of her relatives. when we see persons who are in this frame of health, how sad it is. how i wish that i can do something to make my mom good again. i love her so much. although i have been trying my best to ration her with the best herbal food supplements around, i always feel that it is never enough.

Hi eshaan, It is rather sad to learn that the father of your friend who knew you very well before, couldn’t recognize you totally when you met him during your vacation in Mumbai. I don’t think he is the victim of senile dementia, as those who suffer from senile still could remember all the things happened past few years or even much longer than this, whereas they couldn’t remember all the things happen recently. For this they often would get lost when going out. Therefore the families of the senile dementia people are advised not to let these patients to go out alone. I haven’t seen any of this person who loss of memory in my real life. I have come across this type of cases lots of times while watching movies or soap operas. Many loss of memory are after road accident or encounter any heavy impact on their head part. These amnesia patients would recover from the amnesia illness and become normal again after certain stimulation dramatically Happy posting and have a great day!
