You know how people make all of these New Year's resolutions and they go on and on until they realize they're not getting any reward for sticking to it other than pride. Don't get me wrong. Pride is a great reward but most people need to have something tangible in front of them to keep their motivation alive. So rather than just have a New Year's Resolution, set up reward checkpoints where you reward yourself for sticking to the resolution at different holiday checkpoints. The first one I'd say for New Year's Resolutions would be Valentine's Day. If you can keep up your New Year's Resolution by Valentine's Day, treat yourself to something small that you've wanted for a long time and never brought yourself to buy or something you don't usually do to mark your checkpoint that you've completed your resolution up to at least Valentine's Day. I call this the Valentine's Day challenge. So what will your resolution and Valentine's Day reward be?
