Today Was One Of The Scariest Days Of My Life!

Hubby and I went to his sisters place to pick up the truck that belonged to his step dad before he passed away on New Years Eve. On the way up it was right windy and honestly, I didn't want to go for a number of reasons one being the winds were too high but knowing that hubby wanted to get the truck especially since he had to sell the last one he had, I decided to give it a try. Now mind you, I have a 2002 Chev Tracker which is a small SUV. More like tiny instead of small. On the way up there, it wasn't bad but oh my gosh, coming back was HELL!! The winds had picked up quite a bit and the rain had flooded the roads and I kept hydroplaning or it was the wind and it would push me to the other lane or almost off the road completely!! I was near tears because I was so scared!! We decided to drop my car off at my parents place since it was on the way home and I'd get into hubby's truck where it's much bigger and heavier and go home. I didn't like that idea one bit because of who the truck belonged to.... death is very creapy to me. I can't help it, it's always had a creapy feel to me. I've been this way since I don't know when and will always be like this but not only that but because these people didn't like me when they were alive and being in something that was theirs doesn't sit well with me either but I had no choice if I wanted to get home alive so I did. Once we got home and had dinner a little while later, I had colapsed on the couch and fell asleep. What a stressful day that it turned out to be!! I so wish now that we had waited but we didn't and now it's done, just have to go to my parents tomorrow and pick up my car. Have you ever been that scared? Not fun! Not fun at all!

Awwww you're being a bad student!! lol Hey, you're not doing anything that I haven't done before so I hope you know I'm just teasing you. However, do be careful because you do need your education to succeed in life. So please do get your education and not fail or get behind. Trust me, you'll thank yourself in the long run!

I'm so glad you were able to get down that hill in one piece hon! Your Tracker sounds like it's as light as my little Ford Escort. I swear someone could sneeze at it and it would blow it off the road because it's so light. I've had the same type of thing happen to me, only for me it was on flat ground. Not only was it wet and windy but there were also like a gazillion big rigs on the highway. And the tail and side winds from them were pushing my car all over the road along with the wind. I was so scared and tense that my hands were almost so cramped that I couldn't let go of the steering wheel when I got to my destination. And I agree with you....it's NO fun at all!

Actually it was an hours drive from my parents place and an hour and a half from my place. I felt like I was in school just before the bell rings with all the hustle and bustle getting to their classes bumping into one another and what not, the wind just threw me around like I was a rag doll! Damn that was so scary and then to hydroplane.... between the both I didn't think I'd make it to my parents but thank God I did!! I knew when I bought this car that it was a little bit top heavy but dang! I didn't know it could be lifted and flown!! I'm going to see about trading it in as soon as possible because it's not safe at all. I had a ford escort wagon for years and loved it but yes, they're light as a feather because they're so small. They don't have much in the way of protection either and that's one thing I want back. We had a mercury sable wagon and talking about balls!! Whew!! that thing had balls and guts and a lot of protection all the way around. Hubby and I kick ourselves in the rear for letting that one go but we live and learn from those dumb dumb mistakes and if we ever get lucky again, we hope to keep it for a long long time. Just like hubby's truck that he had before this one, it was awesome!! Man! It was a NICE truck but we had to let it go, sold it to my brother, because money was so darn tight and gas prices were sky high, too much for a big ole truck like that but now we have another one but it's not as nice as the first one. Oh well, maybe some day we'll get lucky in that aspect too. We never know but you do what you have to and hope it's for the best, right?

We also have a 1998 Ford F150 super cab and I love that thing! It's heavy, sturdy, and doesn't budge. And that thing rides smoother than my car does...and my little baby rides pretty smooth too. I feel a lot safer in the truck, but it's getting harder for me to drive it because of my back..darn it!

Cats, do you ever give life a rest and just hibernate for days on end? LOL Not bloody likely with all the demands people make on you eh? I'm so glad you're safe, but sweets, do give yourself a break and 'just say no!' I know, I know, you have to do what you have to do, but my goodness woman you're going to give ME a heart attack one day just knowing what's going on in your life. lol The last time I was that scared was when the moose attacked my truck and I was sure it was going to come through the windshield at me..........but that's a whole other story. lol

I know, I know I lead a very colorful life, don't I? Trust me, I DID NOT ask for it!! lol If I could trade someone for an easier life, I would in a heart beat!! Believe me, I would! Some times I ask "Why am I here? To be tormented?" But some how I persevere and I shall again. I remember your story on that moose!! I still laugh my tail off over that!! You really made that poor moose's day!! LMBO!

Hey cats! Yeah! I'm sure that driving in that type of weather was definitely no fun! But, you did the right thing by leaving your car if you were that uncomfortable and scared driving. It was better to be safe than sorry! At least your hubby got the truck which is the most important thing for him since he needs it! So now it is over with and you can go get your car tomorrow when the weather will be better! And now you can relax knowing that your hubby has a truck that he needs even though you hate where it comes from! Try not to think about that part!

Worst experience I had driving was in a snowstorm a couple of years ago. The snow hurts your eyes in a white out, and then the snow hits and scrapes the bottom of your car. But the worst is black ice. When I hit that patch of ice, my car spun around, and I wound up in a culvert, luckily right side up. Now, when I see the semi trucks pulled off the sides of the road, I pay attention!

Yes, I have had really scary times when traveling in a car. I have also been in a car when it went to hydroplaning, thats beyond scary. That is terrifying. We were traveling down the highway, at night, through swamp land in Florida, it was raining like crazy, it was windy. there was no place to pull over and wait untill the rain let up. I never want to experience something like that ever again. there have beenother scary times too, but that was one of the scariest. when a car hydroplanes like that, there is nothing that you can do. Glad you got home safe.

Hoppe the trip to get your car goes better for you. I still have an uneasy feeling when I drive across the new bridge here on I35 that collapsed awhile back. I hate that bridge but it's all part of life I say. Also since my accident recently I tend to stay WAY behind other cars now as well out of fear. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
