Yesterday we went in to be induced they started with pitocin and that did nothing but make me have contractions that didn't help me dialate so then we did the prostalanda gel and stayed over night and that didn't do anything either and then in the morning we took a pill and that still didn't do anything so we came home now we are going to try castor oil and see if that helps. i have never taken castor oil and im not excited at all but hopefully this will push us in to labor!!!

LOL you poor girl. If the doctors methods aren't working then your body is not ready to give birth. Is it possible that they may have been off with your due date? My due date with my son was August 17th and then the doctor changed it to August 11th and induced me on August 10th. My son was born august 11th and I was told he was at least a week overdue so they were at least 3 weeks off.
I would never asked to be induced again after going into labor on my own. The pain is way more intense when you are induced(this was confirmed by an RN). Castor oil is very awful stuff i tried it with my daughter and it did not work so i took it for no reason LOL but for my sister it did work and she puked it up after taking it. I have been told in the past by nurses that it all depends on if your cervix and body is ready to go through the process and I strongly believe that. Are you overdue? How overdue are you?
Good luck with it all sweety and Congrats!

we aren't over due yet according to my dates how ever the baby is big compared with my dates the actual due date is monday the 12th but i do have high blood pressure thats one of the reasons we went ahead and opted to be induced i wont be taking the castor oil at the moment. Cause i found that there is a link between taking castor oil and having maconium in the amniotic fluid. I don't want to risk that besides its a laxitiv and i really don't want to go through the cramps of bowls and then it not even kick start contractions. Thank you for your advice!~!!!!

well we may try to make love as well we will see it hurts right now to do anything physical with my husband but i do have an exercise ball that im going to try and bounce up and down on like the first person who responded stated doing. may be even trying to open my hips a little more to make it easier for the baby to move down. we will see

Talkin about your hips movin got me thinkin. When I was pregnant with my son i was told that getting on your hands and knees and was your floor can help because it moves your hips more so than walking around.

All castor oil does is give you contractions and if your pitocin already did that, the castor oil won't help anymore. Have you been walking a lot? The exercise ball is another good idea, just keep moving.

Oh by the way, the day I went into labor I had an ultrasound and it said she was going to be over 8 lbs. She came in at 6 lbs 11 ozs. So don't put too much stock in what they tell you the size of the baby is.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor about stripping your membranes. Just to warn you, if they do it, it hurts like HELL.

okay thanks for the advice. Yeah i decided not to use the castor oil just yet. I told my husband i wanted to wait and see if im any more dialated tomorrow when we go to the doctor. Because i read that there is a connection between castor oil and having maconium in the amniotic fluid and i really don't want to risk that happening

I heard of a fellow mylotter taking Castor oil to start the labor, but all it did was make her sick. If I remember right she still had her baby around her due date, even though s he took the Castor oil two or three weeks prior to giving birth. I don't know if it works, but if you already took it I hope it works for you. Good luck!

no i haven't taken it yet but i have been using other methods such as our exercise ball bouncing up and down on it and then rotating my hips to open them up more so may be the baby can drop down further and put more pressure on my cervix helping it open

What I did was just walk back and forth all over the house all day. Then finally I went into labor on my own. Sometimes being induced doesn't work~ as you have experienced. Try eating something greasy like McDonalds and then do the walking.
Good luck and congrats!
