Over the holidays, the garbage pick up has been none existent here in montreal, there is garbage everywhere,
the city says it was due to the holiday schedules but they will have it all cleared by the end of the week.
Did you have this problem in your area where you live over the holidays?
How is the garbage pick up any time of the year?

compared to the usa it is very clean, but the city is not good at planning in anything, they have mixed up so much different things.

No. Thank goodness. I hope they have it cleaned up in your area like they said they would. And be thankful it is cold out and not warm. Ugh! That could be discusting and a health hazzard. Good luck!

It depends when the holiday falls on trash day or not. This year Christmas fell on Thursday, so trash day which is Friday went on as normal. Now if a holiday fell on trash day, I have to make sure I have the trash out on Wednesday night. I learned my lesson from missing trash day before, after having to wait a full week to put it out again. I have seen neighbors forget to take the trash out during normal weeks.

Well here they just pick it up and drop it at Staten Island. Staten Island is 40% larger because it was build on a trash heap. Actually we are quite fortunate here in NY because there are so many people, they can not afford not to pick it up.

Since you asked how garbage pick up was where I lived anytime of the year I figured I fit into this discussion.
In our other town we lived in before this one, there was no garbage pick up at all so we would have to either burn most of the boxed items and I would take the rest of the stinky stuff in garbage bags to work with me. I only did this because a nurse told me it was okay otherwise I wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble about it and let me tell you.. the ride was discusting! It smelled so bad
Now that we're in our new house, garbage pick up is on Monday mornings everyweek and no matter what if it's a holiday or not, the garbage gets picked up. There's no excuses at all. So garbage pick up in Montreal should have continued to do their jobs instead of having garbage all over the place.
I have to also add that I love garbage pick up and I"ll never take it for granted ever again! If we move again into a different town or area I will always ask if there's pick up for garbage and if not then I won't move there!
Have a nice evening

they say it was scheduling mixups, it has been corrected now, no garbage pick up in a town that is awful.

We have our garbage picked up on Fridays like clockwork every Friday unless it is a Friday that a Holiday falls on. Then the trash is usually collected the next morning. We have a great trash collector company that lets everyone know ahead of time if they are going to be late or early to pick up trash. Over the radio and television.

Well, the Garbage pick up was Slow here as well. In some areas it seemed like they are just beginning to get back to normal here as well. We had a lot of Snow and Ice and Cold everywhere, and now flooding everywhere, so it has been an interesting almost a month here for sure. Just when more things were beginning to get back to normal, and then this. Glad to sound like it could be getting better for you there, and wishing you the Best.

I have to hand it to our workers. They have done a great job juggling schedules during the holidays. But then again I don't remember a time when we did have a problem with it. They just move some of the pick up a day up and some a day behind if needed. But it all gets picked up.

Ours gets picked up the next day. It doesn't make much difference around here. Hopefully yours will be taken care of soon.

Around here, the only days the trash isn't picked up, is on the actual day, Christmas and New Years - and that day is ALSO my trash pick up day. Well, when they don't pick up, it slides to the next day, so my trash got picked up on Friday.
Oh yeah, and back in November for Thanksgiving too.

We live in an area where you have to pay for garbage pickup, but the dump is about a mile from our house, so we just drop it off a couple of times a week when we are going that way.. There was a huge line on the first day it opened after Christmas, much good expensive wrapping paper being crushed.. I used bags so they can be used again and again..

We didn't have any problems here where I live. Just that some of the residence missed the pick up because they came a day earlier than usual they had it it published in the local newspaper that they would pick up a day early when a holiday comes in that week. Everyone doesn't get the paper and some don't read the notices that comes with their bills. I am guilty of not reading all my notices.

The holdays don't affect my piuckup dates other then the Monday Holidays. My pick up day is Monday so on those days of a Monday Holiday they get it on Tuesday. They are usually one day behind from Holidays. But my city has 5 or 6 different private companies that pick up garbage. No city pick up companines at all. I've yet to have any gripes or problems with my garbage company. We pay $32 every 3 months for service. Extra for leaves etc at the rate of $2 per bag. But I use mine for composting so now exspenses there either for me.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

[i]Hi winterose,
SO far we have no problem about it! It was delayed for a day with us! Like instead of Thursday, they picked it up Friday!
That is not good when it takes more than 2 days that they are not showing up! maybe their area of coverage is just too wide?

Ive actually been very impressed with our rubbish collections over xmas this time, usually it is a nightmare but we were sent schedules out and they actually turned up too. So there has been no rubbish left lying around everywhere for weeks.

It's terrible where I live. They have started this garbage picking up system where everyone has to pay the garbage bill even if they dont have a weekly garbage picking up scheldule thing. They have sent letters to all house stating that they will put a garbage bill on our income tax bill. I cant believe this my family throws out trash out at with a company that is cheaper and this just makes us pay more money this blows. This is because some people dumb there trash in dumbsters that dont belong to them.
