We're all a little bit Pagan - even if we don't know it!

Paganism and pagan rituals from thousands of years ago formed the basis for many modern day religious festivals and ceremonies. Here are some things Pagans celebrate: Winter Solstice: We choose to celebrate on December 24/25, but it was originally around the 21st Spring Equinox (or Eostre): The last weekend in March, usually the 24th Beltane - May 1st or May Day. Many pagans choose to be hand-fasted on this day. Summer Solstice: June 24 Hallow's Eve (or Samhain): October 31st Hand-fasting: Pagan version of marriage It's also curious to note that our days of the week have Pagan origins: Sunday - Sun's Day Monday - Moon's Day Tuesday - Tiw's Day Wednesday - Wodon's Day Thursday - Thor's Day Friday - Frige's Day Saturday - Saturn's Day :)

I'm more than a little bit Pagan. but then that's common knowledge round here. I wouldn't say that handfasting is the Pagan version of Marriage, rather that it is a Pre-Christian form of marriage. it's also where we get the terms getting hitched and tying the knot the reason that May 1st was so popular for marriage is that it was not permitted in June, as that was Junos month, and while she was guardian of marriage, it was considered to be taking attention away from her during her time.

Thanks for your comments! I think it's great that Paganism is coming back into the mainstream instead of being so down-trodden like in the past.

I would like to say first off blessed be. now I know that you are right on just about everything. even the christians take celebration from pagans. I used to always wonder where a giant bunny and eggs came from when it came to easter. little did i know that when I grew up the research that id do would tell me. suddenly it all makes sense where jesus and the bunny became one. It was just the christians stealing from the pagan godess. eastor i believe the name was I think i might need to go back and check the spelling but her sign was an egg. I used to wonder if jesus popped out of an egg at some time after he was reserrecticed. once again blessed be and happy mylotting.
