Spreading the word? Do you feel you have an obligation to spread your religious belief system to others,or do you think religion is a private matter that everyone needs to decide for themselves?? Why or why not??

I don’t feel any obligation to spread my religion, Hinduism. Discussing it with others and clearing doubts is something totally different. For one thing, being born as a Hindu I have always seen Hindus around me passively going around practising their religion without any concern about whether the number of Hindus is increasing or dwindling. See what happened to Nepal…the last Hindu kingdom has become a republic. See what happened to India after partition… inspite of Hindus being a majority and the country being divided on religious grounds, we still have a secular democracy. See what happened to the BJP…it could not implement any worthwhile agenda (the Ram Mandir is just another cheap sham). So my point is that Hindus take their religion seriously but personally…its not in the Hindu psyche to spread and implement it rigorously and consciously, and I am a Hindu to the core. Secondly, its my firm belief that Hinduism will continue no matter what happens to this religion…we don’t need to convert people for Hinduism to continue. Thirdly, the basic tenet of Hinduism is that the truth needs to be sought by the seeker…it cannot and should not be handed out just like that. I follow this tenet to its core.

Sudipta my darling hindu. I am proud to see a Hindu with firm convictions and beliefs and yet simplistic. Hinduism is the art of living and you have proved it. Hinduism is the worlds oldest religion and it will last till the world lasts. Jai mata di.

I absolutely feel its a personal matter (not necessarily private though) and that everyone needs to decide for themselves...Thats why I have such issues with parents who force their beliefs on their children..I dont think that right or fair..

I think its best to educate children about many diferent beleifs and let the child choose their own path when they are ready Oh without a doubt, thats how I do it with my kids and its working out wonderfully...My daughter is very much leaning towards the Zen Buddhist path and my son has bounced all over the board over the past few yrs trying to decide if he is matched to any of them..

Hello GAGAN187! Sometimes I do think it's my responsibility but sometimes I just follow with the flow. I do respect different religion. I believe that the God that they worship is the same God that I worship but in different way.

No i would never do that. Religions were made by man themselves. Religion is indeed a private matter that everyone can decide for themselves. To me its the personality which counts not his religion.

I dont think religion is a private matter , yes belief is private matter. i would love to spread religious belief but it would be situational. If opposite person is keen to listen that then only i would spread religious belief. About belief i would not love to argue on that. every person has right to keep his/her own belief. thats all

Different religion has different beliefs some are secretive, some are conservative and some are very vigorous in recruiting new members for their church, this is also true with the Christians, This what Jesus said, Go to all the ends of the Earth and make Disciples, which means to share your knowledge about Jesus to all people.

Yes,I believed,as a Christian we should do the first command of Jesus,Before He Rises Up to Heaven,Jesus said, Go on to all the Ends of the Earth and Spread the Good news to all Mankind. This is a command and therefore it's a primary duty of every Christians to share the word of God to others not to forced it.
