Are you more on adding someone or just waiting someone to add you?

I don’t know if this discussion has already a duplicate or not but I tried to find it here to make sure if someone has already made this discussion but I can’t see any so I decided to start this discussion. When I am new here, I remember that I always add some members who just interest me but as time goes by, I got tired of requesting and got declined sometimes. So right now, I just wait for some members to add me as a friend and accept everyone. How about you? Are you the kind of mylotters who just keep on requesting members to be your friend or are you the one who just waits for a friend requests and just add/decline them or are you both?

I'm the type that normally make friend requests when I find that their discussions are intelligent & interesting to me. There are those who try to add me but I decline them if I find that they're just trying to get more friends so when they start discussions that they'll fetch more responses.

Hello aisaellis22, Im just waiting for someone to add me and i accept it if i know them. But when it comes to an online community, like this, I do both. Its the way of gaining friends and having more ideas to share and to know if you have the same interest. There's nothing wrong with having friends online as long as you respect each other. :)

I am neither? i am the same as I was when I was new to My Lot. if I find great posts being written by the same person, I will request them to be a friend. if they say no, that's okay. From time to time I look up and see someone has requested me to be their friend. The first thing I do is see if they have written any posts I can respond to, if they have , then I accept them. But if there isn't any posts that I can respond to, then I deny their request.

Hello Aisa, I am just like you. When I am new here, I add friends, but not all of those who give comments on my discussions. I only choose those I think are friendly and would not reject a friend invite. After a few months and I started posting my own discussions, I lost the time to add friends, I just wait and wait when somebody will add me as a friend. And even now that I rarely get online, I received notification of friend request. All I do is add them whenever I get online. I think you really enjoy it here. I think I am here on mylot for months before you sign up and now you surpass the no of post I made. Happy mylotting!

I added a couple of members when I was first here about one year ago.but now,I don't do this any more.I just read other people's discussions, any not quite a frequent responser because of my terrible English. But I've decided that I should try to response every discussion I watch. And I don't think other people would add me voluntarily. You should have a special personality so that people would be interested in you,It takes time and effort to show your special aspects....

hello mikexiao! I don't think that your EngliSh is bad. It's quiet good actually. When I jusst strted here, very rare would want to add me as a friend. But I tried very hard to make friends. So now, that I have been here for four months, newbies would want to add me as their friend.

Yes, my story was like you, when I started here. I would not get any request for add, it was I who would request others to add me and I would wait patiently for my requests to be accepted. However, I find some members would keep it pending, some would decline the request and some would accept. I would feel disappointed when my request for add was kept 'pending'. My notion was -either take me or reject me, do not hang me in balance........LOL! However, gradually the situation changed and I started getting requests for add. I normally do not reject any request, till I find that the member's intention is 'just to add me for the sake of it' or he/she intends to send me some kind of referrals. Even now, when I have spent considerable time here, if I find a member's discussions or his/her response as an 'interesting' one, I do not mind myself sending request to her/him. And now I find that whenever I send a request, most of the time it gets accepted...........LOL! (So now the story has reversed.....!!)

Thanks for your nice and kind comments. I also hope so that like minded members would like to add me. As I told you it is the quality of posts, which matters to me, therefore, I sent you a request for add, because I liked your conduct and posts, without blinking twice, irrespective of the fact, whether you are new here (in my comparison) or not.

well, i am the adding type and so far, i haven't been declined which i am very tahnkful enough that lotters here are very friendly. i don't expect to be added by someone but surprisingly, there are also who are interested in letting me be a part of this list. and i know one of the reasons why we add people is to start a new friendship and be able to help each other out whenever discussions are being started. =) nice discussion, aisa!

Yet, I log in to myLot everyday and read every discussion started by you! Because, I like them. But cannot respond always because of want of enough time.

I haven't thought much about adding members. So far i have requested only a few members. Normally i just wait for people to add me, or rather i accept whoever wants to add me as a friend. I don't think i'll decline anyone.

WELL, IT DEPENDS. I do not like to request others as my friends, but some times i will have this kind of passion to make friends with the one whose words I am interested in and want to know more about the one. but others who wants to be my friends are also welcomed. A NICE DAY!!

It goes both ways for me. Since I've been here for about 3 years now and have a large number of friends I don't request as many as I did in the beginning but now and then I'll feel compelled to add someone. In the beginning I pretty much accepted every friend request I got but now I look at their profile first. However, there are very few I haven't accepted. Annie

Hello anniepa! Wow! for 3 years? OMG! That's what I did too. I just accept and accept friend requests without even looking at their profile but now, I really should be careful. But so far, I never denied any friend requests first.

But i am interested more about girls, aged 20-25, it probably that i am a 25 years old boy.. i accept everyone adding me ...So, i am a middle of the roader...

I agree with most of the answers to your discussion. I'm new as well so I think I need friends. I've been sending a friend request to anyone who answers my posts. The more friends the merrier. Also, I've never denied a friend request. Do you think I should? Although I've not really gotten any yet. :?)

well, I don't think you really have to deny..but maybe check their profile first before accepting..I have heard some bad stories about accepting friend requests, so now I am more cautious..

hi aisaellis! i'm the one who just keep on requesting members to be my friend. but i don't simply add members as friends. for now, i just add those who responded to my discussions. you know as a new member, i need to respect the senior here, so adding is my job. as for you, you can just wait for the juniors to add you up. LOL!
