There is a incident which happened just few days ago. From mall ( Great India place mall, noida) a couple was coming out and a car with 4 guys came and pulled the girl inside and ran away. They raped the girl all four of them and then invited 6 more guys who also raped her and left her in woods. She was A Mba student. She is dead now and only 5 of them are caught but i wanna ask why there isn't any severe punishment for rape in our country. Its not just a physical damage but also a mental damage and now she is dead because of them but i know after 5 years which they will spend comfortably in jail would came back again and do the same thing. I am very angry, india is getting very unsafe for girls day by day. Even when my sister goes to tution i always worry and pray she would come back safe. That mall is not far from here. Punishment for rapist i think should be so severe that nobody else could even think of doing this crime for the fear of punishment. Just burn them to death.

I am kind of confused at the fact that your country doesn't have any severe repercussions for the crime of rape. That is a very serious crime. They killed that girl and that is just terrible! I would have to put strict punishment to them people. That just isn't right. Life in prison would have to fit that crime.

I think something harsh should be done to them for punishemnt also. That way, no one else would do it because of the fear of what they would be facing.

i once again say, that harsh law is no solution, because it will be highly misused by girls, laws are already severe

Yes that's my point if something severe is done then only people will fear law and never ever think of committing such crime

I too am aware of the incident. And I agree that there has been a notable increase in rape cases in India, specially in Delhi and NCR. I agree that severe punishments need to be there for rape cases and in the past few years, even the Govt is working on it. But the problem is that it must be made sure that the law is not misused. I think this is what is taking time for the Govt to bring about hard punishments. It should be worked out really soon. Meanwhile, ladies should be self prepared to tackle such incidents, like keeping sprays with them etc.

sprays cannot deter thugs, it will just provide time to run, a girl needs to practise running, and also marshal arts to be some what safe spray might help a bit

I really don't know. At a local university girls get raped on the campus itself sometimes and no one does anything at all. They are very scared to do group study because they would be raped very badly. And this behavior is more dominant in young men and gangs. They are like totally desperate. There was this one time when a security guard heard screaming coming from a female bathroom. But he thought that it was just wild behavior. Students said that if he had checked the bathroom he would have found a genuine rape going on. No where is safe right now. But I believe that these are gang rapes. Target the gangs and this would decline. The only thing we can do is pray for those innocent girls. Young men need to be more concerned with education. But they can't. These kind of messages are in the music, movies it's like a style. And they go about boasting the next day. SHOOT THEM ALL. SHOOT ALL THE GANGS.

i don't know. But i think its the time we should take the law in our hand, really if we had a group of of people who wants to really stop this messing. we can bring a lot of change. I wish i meet same minded people and if we found a group and attack these people even burn them in public it would really scare everyone who tries to rape girl just for his fun. we are not things that you can abuse.

That's very sad... I think your country should do about this. Rape is a no laughing matter. Your country should enforce any law condemning rapists! Keep safe...

yes they should. In most cases girls are told to be keep quiet by their own parents just for the sake of family and boy seeing such despair thinks he is so great and go and rape another girl.

This is really insane. I don't know what came over the guys suddenly. They should be hanged in public.

That is terrible. But sadly it is something we hear on the news everyday. You always hear how child molesters and rapists receive minor sentences for the pain they have inflicted upon their victims. More and more the criminals are finding they have more rights and can control this world. Working in the newspaper business I have had to speak with prosecutors when such criminals have been convicted. In our county it isn't uncommon to see a child molester receive a 90 day sentence. On one occasion I asked the prosecutor why such a light sentence. To which he explained the victim was a teen and actually wanted it. The male was 19 or 20 and the female was 13 or 14. So I asked if the suspect knew the age of the girl and he said yes to which I replied "That is enough for me."

God. There was this gangrape in Lucknow and police said that girl was of loose character and wanted it. A girl would want 6 people to rape her. what that hell they were saying? Its such a shame. Its so easy to point out on girl's character. That why 80 % percent victim don't complain in police stations here in India.

I agree with you that they have to punish.but what to do ours is a democratic country we need proofs and they are people who ware black dress and say themselves as protectors of law first we have to change these kind of people.in my place one thrown acid on a gal saying that she deceived him so police encounter him what you say about it.

Who has given them right to abuse any girl? an acid on girls face. If we don't like a guy then why the hell they keep pestering. A man's ego has grown so much that whenever it gets hurt they do something drastic like this to girls. God save us or kill us all.

akangirl i can see you are a girl and from noida, so your concern is understandable, but you can hang, kill, burn for every crime that takes place, then india would be Taliban we are civilised people, that mba girl who was raped was definately doing some naughty stuff in a car with her boyfriend, by seeing that those individuals must have got excited.. and the rape happend in north side, especially the mentallity of people in up,bihar is very voilent, and so many gangs, those individuals need to be punished and they will be punished, becoz they are no 1 spl, they are just common hooligans and they will be spending a very long time in jail.

mumbai is safe, you can come here and stay, here there are lot of robberies but very few rapes. up and bihari people are more violent, lack of education, the less educated the person is, the more voilent he is. take for instance south india, very rarely you will hear crimes occuring there, very few happens there, becoz most of the people are educated and are busy in there jobs. voilence and uneducation goes hand in hand if you watch tv, you will see hell lot of dowry crimes, harrashment of bride, and lot of other crimes, there episodes are full of crime from up and bihar i have seen a video where a 3 bihari youths were killed for stealing a buffalo, the way they were killed was very horriffic there was a case, where a truck driver was burnt alive for killed a person while driving a truck, this is also a horrific crime, burning a person alive

Have you ever been to great india place? Its parking lot is always guarded with lots of guard and also the exit way from big bazaar is also from parking lot only. Most people come to big bazaar and its always crowded so its out of question that girl and boy was doing something in their car. Nobody has a right to gang rape any girl just for the fun of it. AND THEY MIGHT HAVE GOT EXCITED IS THE LAMEST EXCUSE. You know why people are so violent in U.P. and Bihar , its only because they know they will get out easily no matter what they do because our law is lenient and most police officers are corrupt. So severe punishment is only way to stop this mess. Now enough is enough. Noida was known to be the safer than delhi and gurgaon. I myself live in a army colony here. Noida was always praised for its very less crime rate and good infrastructure and fast growth. Which city is safe for women now in India ?

That is horrible to hear. I am so sorry you have to live near such violence. I wish they could do more but i don't think it will change the way a rapist thinks. I don't know what punishment would be severe enough to open their eyes.

i want them to be burnt in front of public so nobody dares to do this to any girl. Girls are thought to be timid and always be suppressed. Such heinous crime should be punished very severely

How tragic and tortured happened to that lady in your place.. Anyway that was happening in all areas where bad guys is there. Even in my country that was happening but thanks to the police and authorized person those bad guys always caught by them. But I know not all of them got punished by their crime because there are some protectors with the connections of some of them from the government officials too. If the suspect have much influenced in the entire govt and rich probably it is difficult for them to be punished by the officials with authority. And even I'm very much disappointed by that system . And asking too, why there is no hard punishment to all those rapist. They could do it again if they got free.

that is so disgusting and they should be punished severely, they are worse than a beast. in our country this kind of thing also always happens but mostly happens aorund universities' campus, some of the girls are easy to trust other people even if their boy frineds, they have not enough precaution to protect themselives, the rapists so just use this weak point to make it come true...so the girls should stay more alert, learn how to protect...

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I've talked to people from India. The thing that I don't understand is there is such a stresser that woman maintain their virginity that this act against a woman would be so minimal as 5 years. I would think that this would be a very sever crime with maximum punishiment. I don't get it.

akangirl, First of all, what sentence would you deem as acceptable and justifiable here? Do you think that a jail period of 5 years is not severe enough? How long would you advocate then? Do you think that the jails in your country are not a damnable places but paradises? Are you having a misconception somewhere here? I do not know about your perceptions and how you arrive at them. But, I would not even think of lasting 24 hours in any of your country's jail and I am serious. I can assure you that it is not somewhere you will and can enjoy or even last an hour in. Also, rapists who are being sent there will receive very "special" treatments beyond their previous wondrous tryst. I just cannot imagine what they will become in a day after. It is sad indeed that an innocence had been brutally violated by a gang of senseless and cruel thugs. Be it if she is a graduate or a normal girl, no one deserves such a senseless abuse especially rape. However, rape is just not predominant in your country only, it is worldwide. So, it would be prudent that women should be prudent and wary to take the necessary precaution especially when they need to travel about at night. Safety must be observed at all times and I just cannot help to say just how many times I have seen cases where they literally throw away these precautions. Fortunately, nothing of this sort happened to them, yet it does not guarantee that it never will. So, take care and have a nice day here.

akangirl, There is a certain penal code that the legislation will need to follow and administer accordingly. So, I do not think that the maximum sentence of a rape is 18 years lest you may want to set up a group and petition for it. Till that day I should say that you should not undermine a sentence of 5 years here. Let justice be mete and if the victim's parents or prosecution feels that it is not severe enough - they can always re-appeal for a heavier or maximum sentence. Cheers.

final solution for this it is not about having harsh laws, you cannot curb crime by imposing harsh laws, laws are already harsh, and they are already getting misused by women for example they are using rape complaints as a tool to harass there boyfriends or to make a score against some 1 they hate 1 of my friend he is a cop, he said 80% of the rape cases are fake, so girls do misuse rape laws, and another is dowry law, you will find all the complaints made by married ladies are about harassment for dowry by her husband and there parents which are mostly likely to be fake girls purposely files fake dowry cases against there husbands, because they are dowry cases are very severe whatever happend in Noida was a example of sick mentality, i guess the level of education is bit poor, you will see lot of crime happen in north especially up,bihar in tv epsiodes(those crime reporters) you will rarely see any crime happening in south because people there are educated and are busy in jobs, and there own life the level of voilence is high there because of poverty and uneducation, uneducation and voilence goes hand in hand an educated guy will never do such a thing

Agree with Aminnagpure, but it dosen't mean we should not punish these criminals. We should have some strict laws against such crimes, and goverment should take some concreate actions to prevent such shamefull acts. Well, litaracy plays a big role, mostly such crimes are initiated by uneducated people. So we as a part of Democracy also think over this problem. We and GOvernment collectively should think and move toward to resolve this illlitracy problem from India. I'm sure it will solve so many problems of this category and will help India to Progress.
