Did you ever wish you had stayed in bed that day?

Well, I had such a day yesterday. I had a dental appointment and was getting ready for it. I decided to wear my cream coloured winter jacket that I had picked up from the cleaner the day before. The cleaning had cost $ 19.95 because it had to be done twice. I was really pleased with the result and decided to give my dark blue padded winter coat a rest. So I took the jacket out of the cleaner's wrapper put it on and 2 minutes later I was waiting at the crosswalk to cross over to the bus stop. A car wizzed by and sprayed me with grey slush from top to bottom. I arrived at the dentist in wet pants (he he) and a splattered jacket.
Then I got some bad news that the work that had to be done would cost several thousand dollars and my insurance would likely only pay some of it.
I left rather in shock and decided to walk to my favourite bakery where the master baker does all the baking himself without adding additives and preservatives. I thought the walk would do me good and ease some of the frustration, even though it is a 25 minute walk. When I got there the bakery was still closed for the holidays. It only opened again today. So I trudged back home another 25 minutes to save a few pennies toward the dental bill. Why did I get up that day?

yes that truly was an awful day for you, yuck. It seems it always goes that way when one thing goes wrong it is like a domino and everything else goes wrong after that as well. I would never be able to pay that dentist bill. I can't pay my debts as it is.

Yes, you are right. No wonder there is a saying that things bad or good? come in threes. I guess it refers to the domino effect. I am sure you can appreciate what kind of a salvo of slush was sprayed on me. You have these kinds of days in Montreal where the snow melts and the slush puddles are very deep. As far as the dentist is concerned his office told me they would get an estimate from my insurance company to see how much they are willing to pay but that still will leave me with a huge bill. I guess I will have to designate my old age pension to pay the dentist or shave off some more expenditures that I incur right now, such as getting my hair done on a regular basis, buying a few new clothes every year, a planned trip, a few gifts for my granddaughter. I am also looking into online earning possibilities but I am not a good writer and it seems that a lot of the other opportunities don't pay much. The cold hard truth is, we do need teeth otherwise all kinds of health problems will follow. Thanks for stopping by.

I can sympathize with you I went to the dentist yesterday because I had broken a tooth on popcorn and needed to see what need to be done to get it fixed. well when I left the office I wanted to cry. I have no insurance and I needed 4,700 for the dental care that I need. grrrrrr. I want to really really cry. But today is another day and I'm going to get to work on getting the money and maybe even start looking for dental plans.

Wow, $ 4700 surely is a lot for a broken tooth. I understand completely why you want to cry. In my case the minimum quoted was $ 4500.00. My insurance will pay some of it but I don't know how much. Also I have a yearly maximum they will pay, so maybe we can do the work in stages. Yes, you should look into dental plans. And yes today is another day and both you and I will make plans how to come up with the money. Good luck.

I have had many days like that before. The best thing to do is to go back to bed if you can and try it over again.

Hi Steph,
Yes, you are so right, it would be best to go back to bed. The trouble is sometimes we don't know what is going to hit us. Hope you have a wonderful day today.

You got up today so that you could have all of the fun that you had... If you had stayed in bed, it wouldn't have been near as much fun, lol.. I admire you walking to save a few pennies, but you still gotta get your coat cleaned again.... Can't win for losing, that sounds so much like my days, some are uneventful but many are so full of stress, that I could pull my hair out.. Tomorrow will be better..

Yes, Donna I did get up today and so far so good. I am sure we all have these dreadful days and I am so glad we have this forum where we can lend support to each other. It would get on my kids' nerves if I complained to them all the time.
Thanks for responding.

Hi zhangfzoe,
Thanks for your comments. I guess you are right I have to snap out of it and not let myself feel sorry for myself but I still have to figure out what to do about fixing my teeth. In addition I need to have my jacket cleaned again.

Personally I think we can all say that we have had days like this, and many of us have had too many to count. I had one of those days myself just recently as well. I had the Flu about 2 weeks ago, and had to miss some work, and then to top it off now have a Cold. It ended up getting into my chest etc. so all I have wanted to do is sleep. I was finally given an Antibiotic and cough syrup and even though I have had to take some more time off from work, I am starting to feel more normal but ready for it all to end as well.

oh man, talk about a truly craptacular day! sounds like you should have never stepped foot past the bedroom door. there really should be some kind of warning system to predict those days lol!
you know the alarm clock goes off and you sit down in front of some fancy meter and stick your hand in it and it tells you, "Hey! Go back to bed! Whatever you do, dont leave the house!"
lol! boy id pay some good money for something like that!

Hey, that would be a splendid idea. I would buy such a meter that would tell me if a bad day was coming up. Thanks for responding.

What a day, Linda! If it hadn't been for the dentist, it really would've been a good day to stay in bed. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. It makes me wonder, do you have to wear a raincoat when walking to avoid splattering your freshly cleaned clothes? Twenty dollars seems like a lot, but it's been about 10 years since I've taken any clothes to a dry cleaner.

Hi Joyce,
Where I live in Canada, the winters are pretty bad. Yesterday a lot of the snow on the streets had melted and created gigantic slush puddles. Now if the drivers would be considerate and not drive at great speeds too close to the curb at a crosswalk you would not get soaked as I did. As to the cleaning bill, yes it was a lot but the cleaner explained to me that it had to be cleaned twice, and I was really pleased with the results at least for a brief moment in time. Nice to see you again. Thanks for the response.
