Have you ever taken an enneagram test? Do you find it to be an accurate description of who you are in general? What personality type are you? Or do you think it's all a bunch of fodder? If so, why?
Here is a link to a free test that you can take:
http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/discover.asp
My results showed me as a type 6 personality, and when reading through various type 6 definitions, I simply cannot deny it.
"Type Six
The Loyalist
The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. At their Best: internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others."

The website has strongly advised me that I need to take more indepth test! LOL
Seems I tied between Type 5:
The Investigator
The perceptive, cerebral type. Fives are alert, insightful, and curious. They are able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense. They typically have problems with eccentricity, nihilism, and isolation. At their Best: visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time, and able to see the world in an entirely new way.
and Type 9:
The Peacemaker
The easy-going, self-effacing type. Nines are accepting, trusting, and stable. They are usually creative, optimistic, and supportive, but can also be too willing to go along with others to keep the peace. They want everything to go smoothly and be without conflict, but they can also tend to be complacent, simplifying problems and minimizing anything upsetting. They typically have problems with inertia and stubbornness. At their Best: indomitable and all-embracing, they are able to bring people together and heal conflicts.
LOL, I always knew that I was slightly skewed! Thanks for letting me prove it!

Yep, while I was taking the test and reading the other types, I definitely thought of you as a Type 9 for sure, with type 1 tendencies as well.
So, hmmm, maybe these things aren't so hokey after all, eh?
Just proves we're all a little nuts, which is ok with me, too.

Whoops, I meant Type 5 tendencies, not Type 1.
Damn brownies. Confusing me. Too many numbers. *hiccup*

I'm tied between 5 and 8
Type Five
The Investigator
The perceptive, cerebral type. Fives are alert, insightful, and curious. They are able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense. They typically have problems with eccentricity, nihilism, and isolation.
At their Best: visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time, and able to see the world in an entirely new way.
Type Eight
The Challenger
The powerful, aggressive type. Eights are self-confident, strong, and assertive. Protective, resourceful, straight-talking, and decisive, but can also be ego-centric and domineering. Eights feel they must control their environment, especially people, sometimes becoming confrontational and intimidating. Eights typically have problems with their tempers and with allowing themselves to be vulnerable.

interesting quiz. i am type 4, the individualist. which sorta doesnt surprise me because i am pretty creative in many ways and like to be the standout.Type Four
"The Individualist
The introspective, romantic type. Fours are self-aware, sensitive, and reserved. They are emotionally honest, creative, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. Withholding themselves from others due to feeling vulnerable and defective, they can also feel disdainful and exempt from ordinary ways of living. They typically have problems with melancholy, self-indulgence, and self-pity. At their Best: inspired and highly creative, they are able to renew themselves and transform their experiences"

I haven't yet heard of anyone who's taken these tests, finding that they're totally different from the personality type pegged on them at the end of the test. I can only imagine how much better it is to take the full test. :)

Hmmm, I was reading about Type 8 and I know I could fit that one to a degree. But the test said I was tied between Type 1 and 5, with 8 a close 2nd.
Type One
The Reformer
The principled, idealistic type. Ones are conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. They are teachers, crusaders, and advocates for change: always striving to improve things, but afraid of making a mistake. Well-organized, orderly, and fastidious, they try to maintain high standards, but can slip into being critical and perfectionistic. They typically have problems with resentment and impatience. At their Best: wise, discerning, realistic, and noble. Can be morally heroic.

Very interesting, CanadaGal. Thanks for getting me to do this. It will also be interesting to see what others score at, too.

Interesting discussion, I take the test and I got the same result as yours;
Type Six
The Loyalist
The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. I think, it was accurate kinda describe some of my personality. Hehe, thanks for sharing this, it's quite enjoyable to know my personality type.

no I never had that test done, sounds like the covered all ground here, and if you are not one you have to be the other, so they can't go wrong.

I really see myself in both of those, which is probably why I had very similar scores in both.
