Hi if you like straight typing, how about working as a home based transcriber. I personally am a transcriber and have worked from home in my own business for 5 years and I work with several transcription companies that outsource the typing to home based contractors. I am basically a virtual assistant as I do secretarial work for other clients as well. I love it. Check out http://www.virtual-assistant-advice.com for so much free info for people like you. There is even a list of transcription companies worldwide on the transcription section of the site that you can start with. Not sure what country you are in, etc. Like I said I also type for other businesses, there are so many avenues to find these businesses. It's all written down on the site I mentioned. And so many people think that transcription is only medical and legal, but there is so much general transcription work out there, which is what I do.

hi virtual assistant! I hope you don't mind but right now I'm really earnestly looking for data entry or any work at home jobs I can find...I've been surfing the net but all I can find are one's who are asking for a fee before I can start and i think they're all scams... I would really appreciate some of your thoughts and insights into this... Thanks and God bless! =)

Hi there, finding legitimate data entry work is hard, especially over the net. If you really want data entry work, then try to find companies that you know must have a lot of data entry in their organisation, research companies come to mind, and approach them direct as an independent contractor. Then you find clients without having to pay out fees, etc to possible scam businesses. Having said that, there are legitimate job banks out there on the net that you have to pay a fee to, where legitimate businesses are looking for contractors to complete work for them. And I'm not talking freelance bidding sites, they are crazy, the rates get bid down so low it's not worth it for most people around the world to accept those low rates. Hope I've helped a bit.

I prefer the real jobs..But then, layoffs and crisis nowadays, I might as well try working at home since we have a family business and I get to help as well. But then, I really would want to work in an office field so that I can improve my skills, but why is it really hard to find one that will fit my qualifications. *Sigh..Nobody is hiring and all are looking for those who got experience and degree holders..*Tsk.
