Just received an email from my boss

Just received an email from my boss. It was very terse, angry and short - giving me a list of jobs to do from the meeting he had yesterday without my being present. So I am guessing that the other Board Members did not like the idea of him getting rid of me and voted against him. This is only a guess but to me, the only possible answer. Anyway, I am on my guard and will take nothing for granted and be very careful to document everything instruction that he gives me verbally and when I respond by email I will not only document the phone conversation but copy my reply to all members of the Management Board. Meantime, I am also working on a Plan B - as a back up. I am posting this as many friends asked me to let them know what had happened. Anyone else concerned about losing their job?

I'm happy to hear you still have your job. How awful to have to be so vigilant in watching your back. If anyone gets fired, I hope it is him. But wouldn't it be wonderful if he could just change his attitude? I wonder if he realizes he is only making it harder for himself, in addition to you.

At least you have God on your side. You know it, girl. Mr. Condo man may think he is most powerful, but the joke it on him.

You know what is sad? when he is our town he goes to the same Church as I do - always shoving money in the Priest's hand to show what a great man he is. Our priests only get a very small allowance for themselves. It is so hypocritcal but I am leaving him to God. No more tears will be shed.

I am glad to hear that you still have your job, but I am sorry to hear that your boss is not being nice to you at all. I hope your Plan B works out for you just in case.

Aw, that is so sweet. Glad to hear you have a few more orders for your gift baskets. I wish you many more. I am having a bit of a slow start to this month with my sales, but I did make over $1000 last month so I can't complain much. I think things will pick up for me a little bit closer to Valentines Day.

I wish you every success too. My baskets are dependent on whether guests are in the villas or not.and with the world economic crisis there are not too many tourists visiting my Island now. But I am giving good value for money and the guests have told the company how much they like the baskets. So I give thanks.

It is a world wide crisis. It is just beginning to hit us out here. The layoffs are starting etc and the government will be cutting down on employees. There is no longer an export industry for bananas and th bauxite industry is hurting. Tourism is down, but at least we are not in the cold and people do grow food and help their neighbours. We do not have an unemployment benefit though, so people have to rely of family and friends.

My fiance and I are jobless, so no we're not concerned with losing our job.. to be fair, we're not concerned with getting one the way the economy is. I hope you don't lose your job though!

I have lost my job, since June of 2008. Last year, I had a very good relationship with my manager. I was out of work for three days in February with the flu. I called her everyday to give an update on how I was coming along. I actually went back to work sick, because I knew that a lot of things needed to get done. When I came back she was very cold towards me, I couldn't figure out why. then I realized that she must have gotten into trouble for something she told me to do, which shouldn't have been done the way she told me. then she started trying to cover up her error, by blaming me for everything that went wrong. I was on my guard about my job, and would write down everything she told me to do. That did not help because she started blowing off, what I had documented by saying, it should be done this way not that. Well eventually, she got her way, and I was laid off. She said she was sorry that there were no other open positions in the department that I could fill and that my position was going back to the person who had it before I came. Yeah, these people will do anything to move someone that they do not care for out of the workplace. I was a great worker and always completed my assignments on time, but it always depends on who likes who, back stabbing still exists in the workplace.

I do know that life is way too short to put up with the kind of B.S. that you have mentioned here, all for the name of your job. I would be working on a Plan B also, another job and say Bye Bye to this one. It is good to keep alert and know what is being said and when at any job but to me this sounds like you are having to keep track so to cover your own because of a bad boss. That's no fun. Been there done that. It sucks. How can we go to work each day, everyday with that sort of tension? One door closes and another opens. I wish you well in 2009!

Thank you for responding - I know that what yo have said is true but I am older and would not get another job easily. This is a tourist town with no tourists so people are beginning to suffer badly. I will hold on as long as I can to pay my portgage and car payments and try to pay extra each month to try and pay them off more quickly. The stress is awful and now I have to take bp tablets day and night instead off just once a day as mu bp has raised to a higher level. I am working on plan B though. Good wishes to you too this year!

yes, I still have my job and that is a lot to have these days. We don't have unemployment benefits and the disability allowance is really low out here. I am sorry that you are not able to work and do hope that you are not in pain. Thank you for your response. Blessings

Hi Cynthiann, I didn't relise you were not going to be present but knew you would find out on Thursday so its great that you have managed to keep your job. It is sad that this one individual at work is making your life so difficult but covering yourself by replying to all and listing everything is a great idea. Thank you for letting us know. Huggles. Ellie :D

I am a tough old bird who has been through a great deal in life and some of it very unpleasant - so I am strong but not as strong as I used to be when I was yonger! LOl Thank you for responding. No, the meeting was behind closed doors as he knew that I could refute what he said. I give thnks that they did not believe hoim - whatever - but they voted for me to remain on the job. It will be hard htough. I find myself stammering now in his presence and of course he enjoys my doing this as he loves total power. Bless you.

Now I have been in college for three years, and the following year I will graduate, but I am really wonder whether I can find the ideal job. Because the economy circumstance is not very good now, I am really very worried about this. Maybe I need to go on graduate study.

You may not find the ideal job but you have youth on your side and I don't. You can take a job to get experience before doing graduate work. This will assist you eventually. However, people must respect people and there is a way to speak to them. I believe in equality and have fought for equality all of my adult life. I have fought for better living conditions etc. I know that I work hard and am worthy of being treateed with respect. I treat him with respect so he should be treating me with respect to. Thank you for responding

Hey cynthiann~ I am so glad to hear that he wasn't able to get this way! It serves him right for being such a moron! Who does he think that he is? The Board Members didn't let him get away with thinking that he could just do what he wanted to! So that just proves that he doesn't have as much power as he thought he does! Good! I'll bet he is even angrier now! Don't let him get to you and just continue to be very careful around him! Like your plan says, document everything and watch your back at all times! It's too bad that you have to do this! I know how horrible it is to be treated like this because I have had the same thing done to me! And it has nothing to do with how you do your job which makes it even worse!~

He's dong a clean sweep as he did not get his way with wanting me to leave. so he's sacked our security guards (eight and twelve years working) and is not trying to get rid of one of the gardeners. He told me that he wanted a 'clean sweep' at the strata. I know that I have to watch my back - he is very silver tongued with words and thoughts and takes me off my guard sometimes. I have to be extra careful. Thank you for a wonderful and kind response. Blessings

This economy is awful... something I wasn't exposed to. That is of course until I quit my job after my employer attacked my character. That was in November. It's now 2009 and still nothing. I've even tried and find something below my qualifications and still, nothing. My advice, when you have a co-worker, or superior who has a distaste for you... he eventually will get his way - so I would begin looking for a Plan B job. Good luck!

Yes, I am trying to start a little business but as yo say, the economy is awful. Fortunately he travels a lot so he is not around me all the time and I do have the support of the other members of the Board. I can't just walk off and get another job especially as I am older. Thank yo for responding and I do hope that you will get another job soon.

I'd say your boss is not a happy camper. Yes, you should keep records of everything. Like dawnald said, in this economy everyone should be worried about their job. Makes me glad I am retired
