I would say that it is always best to manage your own money if you can. When things go wrong, you are the one who cares about your money and you can act. If you know what's going on, then you can act quickly. Many money managers juts make money when they buy and sell things for you, and that is a conflict of interest with your goal. So I would say that if you have the time to put into the research, then it is best to do things yourself. You have to pick the right assets for yourself, based on your own risk tolerance and goals. No one can know those things better than you.

One of the best things to remember is knowing or learning the difference between what you want and what you need. Don't buy what you want in this economy (unlewss you really really can afford it, and little things.) concentrate on what you need. And if you're in between paychecks and ytou ru out of money but you have a credit card, you can't afford it. Pay down that credit card except for emergencys.
