I remember a school counselor telling me he couldn't imagine how people could enjoy a bath because it was sitting in your own dirt. Oh, but I LOVE taking a nice hot bath! I loved filling a glass with some good wine, leaving the bottle beside the tub, picking out a good book and relaxing in that bathtub for an hour or more, adding hot water as needed. What a luxury!!
My mom lives with me 4-6 month out of the year because her part of the country has hurricanes. She really couldn't manage the bathtub and I was afraid for her to go up and down the basement stairs to get to the sauna/shower. So I replaced my tub with a new shower. Besides, there was mold behind the walls so it absolutely had to be replaced in some manner so it wasn't Mom's fault I had to give up my tub.
I didn't use the tub much, maybe once a month. Isn't it strange how we always yearn for something we no longer have when we didn't really use it much when we had it? It's 18 degrees outside, 64 in the house and it would feel so wonderful to soak in a hot tub!!
Do you love your bathtub? I think I might get one installed in the basement, to replace the sauna that I never use. After this horrible economic crap, that is. Or maybe not....

When we moved into this rented house it had a bath, and I was so thrilled. Unfortunately it also had a leak somewhere in the plumbing and within weeks of us moving in our landlord had had to completely smash up our bathroom in order to find the leak. When he put it back together, he replaced the bathtub with a horrid tiddly shower cubicle, with a shower that you have to hand hold. I HATE it!
A shower is great when you're in a hurry or when it's hot in summer. But it can never replace a bath for relaxation. I like some nice bubbles, a cup of tea and a good book to enjoy mine properly.

Oh yes, that's the absolute best! I think someday I will get a tub once more. I hope to move closer to my two grown sons in a few years when the housing market is better and will probably rent an apartment rather than buy a house, I don't know, but whatever I have will have a BIG DEEP bathtub!!

Oh yes how I do love a nice long hot bath! We have a Jacuzzi tub. I fill it with hot water and some bath salts, turn on the jets, and curl up with a good book. Its very relaxing! I couldn't do without my tub. We have a shower in one bathroom and our tub in the other. So we can chose a shower or a bath either one! :-)

I'm seriously considering selling this house when the market improves enough then buying a more modern house someplace like New Mexico. With a full bath--bathtub! Deep and Long!!!!--and minimal landscaping!!

I did not really appreciate it when I had it. It is the absence of it that disturbs me. I think we always miss what we do not have!

that's a wonderful experience but I do not have many chances to enjoy a bath in a bathtub because there is no bathtub in my house.without that I could also enjoy my shower in the bathroom.that also makes relax and without using too much time in the bathroom,I can spend more time to read or something else.

When I installed the new shower, I chose one that has a seat where my mom can sit and bathe herself with the hand-held shower. That's about as close as I can get to a bath and it's actually a pretty good substitute but there's naturally a very shortened version because of the hot water supply!
We just always want what we don't have, don't we? I need to get past that!
