Remember when everyone was worried about that computer bug that would crash all the computers or cause a big computer glitch in 2000, they called it Y2K, and thankfully it didnt happen, and I hope that it never will, any way do you think that Y2K will still happen one day or in the next few years from now and if it dose how would you feel about it?

The Y2K was a big bug which worried computer users across the globe for malfunctioning of the systems. What it actually was, earlier the Date format represented in the Computers was of 2-digit format (say 96 for 1996). The problem was, once year 2000 comes, the year would become 00 and so all the year data based calculations and dependencies were about to fail. But it was sorted out quickly. And there's absolutely no chance for it to occur again! Have a detailed look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y2K

exactly what I remember Y2K was newspapers and TV were mentioning this around the end of 1999 I don't know what does it have to do with 2012 but you will find a couple of articles about doomsday mentioned it too, strange though Y2K about the year 2000 not 2012

Well, I differ. Other computer related problems may occur, but y2k cant occur again. It has been resolved well. Absolutely no chances!

Yes but who knows it could still happen later then previously thought, but of course we all hope that it wont but you never know.

Oh really? I never knew that... I thought Y2K was some doomsday prediction. Something like how the Aztecs think the year 2012 or something is going to be the end of the world. It probably will happen someday. With the world being connected to the internet more than ever, all it takes is one brilliant mean person to decide to send a bug throughout all the computers in the world. I'm pretty sure I can happen somehow, although I'm not a pro when it comes to networking.

Actually in earlier days when people start using computers as a business tool they were using only 2 digits in the date field for example in place of 2006 they were using 06. So the problem was with the computers with 2 digit date format as it would have shown 2000 as 00.

Hi ya apples99 I wasn't worried about it then and I am certainly not worried about it now. I am sure that if it was going to happen it sure as heck would have happened by now don't you think?

Who would forget that? i guess people got to it before it can do any harm. most probably it would but, you know humans, they can get pass through any problem facing them.

I don't know if it will ever happen but I guess it's possible. I would be very upset but I'd deal with it.

I never believed in it and I think it won't happen. We are advanced and I think smart enough to anticipate those kinds of things.
