What I mean by this is, do your child have a favorite item that they carry around? My 8 year old daughter has a blanket that I had got her when she was 1 1/2 months old and she is attach to it. And when I say attach she likes to have it with her at all times, she will not go to sleep without it. She do not carry it with her to school but as soon as she gets home it is the first thing she grabs. She even has a certain way she holds it and rub her nose with it. It is to the point now that when we go somewhere even to the store she do not take it with her but she wants to know when we are going back home because she miss her blanket. It had holes in it but she got the needle and thread to sew them up, how smart is that? She will cry or have a fit if someone threatens to take it away from her. When she was younger and I washed it, she will stand by the washing machine and dryer until it finish. So again, is your child or children attach to anything?

My little niece of 3 years old is attached to her bolster. She doesn't carry it around, but she looks for it during bedtime. We once went for a holiday without packing her bolster; she didn't cry for it, but the whole night she was very fidgety and restless. When they reached home, she was able to sleep soundly throughout, as she was happily hugging her beloved bolster.

I think my daughter was 5 at the time and she wated to go stay with an aunt of mine who granddaughter was over to her house, she did not take her blanket with her and at 1am in the morning my aunt was bringing her back home because she will not go to sleep because she did not have her blanket. My aunt said she started crying saying she want her blanket and wouldn't go to sleep but as soon as she got home and got her blanket she went to sleep.
