I'm into true life stories at the mo, I have just read a Torey Hayden book and also read a 'women who kill' chapter now and then, I find them amazing, how people survive such horrendous childhoods and how any one can harm a child to that degree and how they get help. The women who kill book is excellent, how women can kill those they are supposed to love and some get away with it for a period of time is unbelievable. I love true life things the best as they are so interesting. Last night I started a thriller book which seems good so far, my interests vary depending on my mood I guess, there was a time where I read loads of mills and boon type books, so what do you like the best?

Ok, part confession time I love Martina Cole's books they are so gritty, violent and brilliant, I just get right into them, I can't put them down, they are nice thick novels too so keep me occupied. They are about gangsters in London, when I read her first book I was absolutely hooked, now I raid the library for all of her titles, there will come a time when I've read every one of her books but I can always reread them again, they are so damn good. I also like detective novels, Rebus by Ian Rankin about a Detective working in Edinburgh, also addictive reading.

I've seen some of Martina Cole books around but not actually read any, maybe I should give one a go and see what happens!

i enjoy reading biographies and autobiographies about people i am interested in. i also love a good thriller. i do read mostly fiction as i find that to be the most entertaining. the trouble is, i really do not have a whole lot of time to read anymore but that is ok because i am a busy mom and when my son is grown i will have too much time on my hands and i can catch up on my reading then!

I've always enjoyed reading books on crime investigation, murder mysteries and horror - these have been my favorite genres since school days. I have tried reading romance stories like mills and boon; but found them rather unrealistic and too sentimental, so gave up totally!

I haven't read mills and boon for years but always found them 'easy reading', I've actually just started a murder mystery book the other day as someone gave it to me, so far so good!! I like crime investigation and some murder mysteries, they are interesting!! Thanks for your response, happy reading!

I'm mostly into contemporary fiction. Jodi Picoult and Neil Gaiman are always good, as are Stephen King and Angela Carter. I've just read 'The Various Flavours of Coffee' by Anthony Capella, which was the most amazing book I've read in a really long time. I also read 'The Post-Birthday World' by Lionel Shriver not so long ago, which was excellent. I'm currently read 'The Time Traveller's Wife' by Audrey Niffenegger, which is seriously brilliant! As a Politics student, I've been known to pick up some political biographies too, and some cultural criticism and lengthy texts on political philosophy and concepts for my studies, but it's not the joyous reading that fiction is...

I love to read a variety of subject matter but right now am reading business leadership books. I and business group I am a member of are reading John C. Maxwell's "Leadership Gold" and it is a very eye-openning read. I highly recommend it to any leader and subordinate as well; it clarifies lots of workplace behavior and enables you with information to avoid some of the drama found there.
I too like books about reality or those based on real events. They are probably my favorite read. I am also a fan of classic novels because they are so descriptive and have a tendancy to sweep you up and draw you into the storyline; you become the characters by getting inside their heads; you travel mentally to the location where the story is set. If the author is extremely good, you can visit the place a story was set and recogize where you are by the discription read in their book. I do love to read but do not get the opportunity to read as much as I'd like to. Whatever you cannot do in life you can experience through books, how awesome is that!?

Yes I agree with you it is awesome what you can achieve by reading! I've never read classic books so maybe I should try as they sound very good. Thanks for your response.

I like horror (Stephen King mostly) and fantasy (like Dragonlance series). Also biographies of good bands are great, have read the Iron Maiden biography called Run To The Hills about 5 times

Thanks for your response, I must admit I'm a bit of a wimp, Stephen King is far to scary for me!!! I remember reading Carrie and it was excellent but I'm not sure if I could read any other of his! Not heard of Dragonlance, some biographies are good, but I guess you have to be into the person or people you are reading about but saying that maybe it doesn't matter, its always interesting reading about other peoples lives!! Thanks for your response
