I am so upset right now. The loan that I applied for to help me pay tuition fell through because of our economy they stopped giving it because they had so many people default on it. YAY for me...now I am stuck paying $780 every three months. I know that may not seem like a lot but I am a full time nursing student I go to school each day from 8am-4om so I only work part time. I have other bills to pay and I already live pay check to pay check. I am not sure how i am going to be able to stay in school :( my school is not on the list for any approved loans from banks and through sallie mae they only qualified for the one that was canceled...what do i do?

That really sucks!!! May I ask what loan you were hoping for? Have you tried for the pell grant? Or other federal loans? Or are you tring to make it on personal loans? I only ask because I am also a full-time student who depends on loans and grants to get through my degree. I hope I don't end up being one affected by this!!

It's normal these days for things like that to happen. I have several friends who are in the nursing program and it is very extensive with the hours you have to put into it. So, I may not understand completely, but I know your situation. I can't imagine being in your position. Is there any way you can apply for another loan at a different bank? You should also be eligible for financial aide. That's the first thing I would check on. See if there is free money out there you could nab. There are a lot of awards for nursing and medical students; people know how expensive it is. You might have to look at getting a dump of an apartment and taking a semester off school to make enough money to go back. Either float on that or charge it on your credit card which should be your last resort. Once you get into taking money you don't have, you're going to be paying pretty heftily for it later. I would take a year off my schooling if it meant I didn't have to charge anything. I would also keep doing little things on the side. I know you have little time, but get a couple more jobs to fill every moment you have off. But for your mental and physical health, I would suggest the cheap apartment (or living with parents if that's an option) and working your butt off for a few months at a couple jobs to make enough money. Earn as you go. Don't get yourself into financial trouble to just 'get it done.'
