Glad That We Cebuanos are Mature Spiritualy

When I saw how humungous and rowdy the Tagalog crowd are doing when the image and replica of the Black Nazarene was brought around the Manila area, I could tell myself, this kind of crowd has never been experienced in Cebu. As I saw those who are around, it seems that the people are so much believing and getting miracles. They are no different from those who are Pharisees in the bible who only wants a showcase of miracles instead of growing spiritually. We annually celebrate the fiesta of Sto. Nino here in Cebu, however, what really appreciates me of the Cebuanos' show of faith is that we take more pride in identifying the image of Sto Nino in us aa Christ said, "He who does not accept the kingdom of God just like this child, cannot enter in it." And our celebration of Sinulog is not about show casing some of the talent but mostly and still even now, even the dancers themselves are pilgrims who offers their dance for their patron. I could say that there are two kinds of people here in the so-called Philippines. The one who shows the faith of the Pharisees who expects an extravangance of miracle, and the Cebuano people who are mature spiritually, yet accepts the childlike image of Jesus in Senor Sto. Nino. I think spiritual maturity refers to how strong your faith is. I believe it is more on when a great storm is passing in your life, i think spiritual maturity comes when that person is graceful enough to accept the storm and faithful that he/she will not sink. I think you are referring more on being disciplined by nature. If people are discipline and responsible with their actions, I believe that could have turned out to be a more peaceful celebration.
