I am not a big fan of microsoft window media player. There is plenty of audio and video player which is better than wmp. I use winamp for audio and kmplayer for all kind of video format. The sound quality of winamp is best and many other feature whereas in kmplayer u will get plenty of feature like taking photo, changing sound and video quality etc. What is ur default media player? Is it same as me or other.

For windows, I use 'The kmplayer'. I tested many media players like vlc, gomplayer, windows media player, zoomplayer and Real media player. I found that vlc, windows media player, gomplayer and zoomplayer did not already have all the codecs required to play all types of media files. Real media player and kmplayer had almost all of the commonly used codecs but because memory utilization of real player is much higher than other media players, it slowed down the computer by a significant amount. Hence I prefer to use kmplayer. I also use GOMPlayer very often to play video files as its memory requirements are minimum when compared to other similar softwares.
For audio files, there has never been a better software than winamp. Uses very little memory and delivers very good sound output. Sound output from VLC media player is also very good but it uses a lot of memory.

Well, the apollo media player did use less resources than winamp. It used on an average, 3-4 MB of RAM whereas winamp used 4-5 MB of RAM. But the basic feature set of apollo leaves a lot to be desired. I tried apollo 37zz. It did not have an adjustable equalizer! I think an audio player ought to have an equalizer with presets for common music types. I think people would enjoy music more when they setup the equalizer options in accordance to the kind of music being played. VLC also comes with an extremely good equalizer. One can't just live without certain basic features.

I strictly only listen to music on my computer so I strictly use iTunes to listen to any music. They have a lot of cool features, mostly for the iPod. Sometimes if im previewing songs I might wanna purchase it loads up on Windows Media Player, which I do not tend to enjoy, its too complicated and unorganized for me. Also, iTunes has a music visualizer which I really enjoy.

Hey,
Yea same I don't really use Windows Media Player since I have to get some codecs in order to watch most movies. I can't really be stuffed! So I use VLC media player. It does most jobs and plays most movies. I now want to try Media Player Classic and heard that it is rather good. Happy Lotting!

That is the main problem of wmp to use codec whereas vlc is also best. As far as media player classic is concern it is superb, the main feature is it use less memory than any other player, open faster than any other(I THINK),sound quality is excellent of any format of video or audio, clean and simple interface which make it a competetor of all media player.

Jetaudio is also good for music file for all format but I don't like real player as my default video player. I have used real player 9 and 10 and i am not satisfied with that and I don't know that the latest player has some good feature or not.

Hi,
Truly, Kazaa Lite Mega Codec Pack (KM Player) is the best in playing video formats. I also love Winamp, but not because of audio playback, but due to the Shoutcast Radio and Shoutcast Video Broadcasting. PowerDVD is also a fine player, but it gives it's best when you have a home theater PC with original, HD-DVD Movies.
Regards,
AJ-Rox

I like Windows media player it has many handy options but i am not using it because it is taking mush time to open and there is some problem in seeking the clip position so i am using VLC it is nice and it loads fast and it is capable of playing almost all formats formats.

well, i like the upgraded version of windows media player. But when i watch a movie, i add it to BsPlayer. It`s the best . He will dawnload all the codecs that you need, and you will be able to see any movie in great conditions. So, i chosed this one, because i wanted to have all the codecs that i need tlo play a great movie.
