Do you think men rightfully deserve to earn more than women?

This topic is very sensitive to me. I brought this up to my mother who said they are hired on earning more than women. Well, I hope this is not true, but then again i live in a rosey colored world where i think everyone needs to be on the same page.
Say if you have to potential employees and one has more experience than the other. Say the one is male and he has less experience, why would he be paid more?
I know in my mother's era this was the case because not many women were in the work force or taken as seriously. But nowdays I would hope this is different.
Because more and more women are just as much a contributor to a household as males.

In the situation you described, a male being paid more would be a travesty.
If a man and a woman are doing the EXACT same job, they should be making the exact same amount of money, unless one has been there longer than the other and has received a raise. That's the only time a man should be making more money for the same work - more time on the job, more experience. Anything besides that is completely unacceptable, and, unless I'm mistaken, grounds for a lawsuit.

Having been a nurse for over 20 years, usually that stuation, pay equal between male & female, maybe even higher for female as ratio higher. But in the corporate world , even in our enlightened age, I believe that men doing the same job get paid more and rise in the ranks a little faster. I am sure there is "pretty" wording to make this not true, but it is still a fact. The ONLY good thing is that the amounts have dropped so that I believe that we are closer than ever, but may never be THERE in ALL professions and jobs in he workforce. What, just because we can vote, we should get equal pay??? LOL!

No, males should no earn more than females if they are doing the same exact job. You are right in that respect. However your mom is right, too. If you go to the Employment Office in your city they can give you statistic about job pay, and she is right men are making more money than women in USA (I assume it's the same in other places). It's usually around for every 1 USD for a man a woman gets 0.65--0.80 USD instead.
However, while I agree with you the woman should get the job (if more experienced)....I've seen it go the "other" way. The man was more experienced and the boss loves to have women in the office so he promotes the woman cos she's hot (pretty).
We would like to have a world that follows the trend such as being as fair and equal as possible..but I still think some bosses do not do that.
Cheers!

Nobody should be rightfully earn more than another person if both are having the same responsibility, qualifications and experiences. It is wrong to pay someone more just because it is a prefer gender , religion, race, national origin or skin color. Unfortunately, we do have bigots among the employers in today world.

i think it's not fair for women who works hard than men....it doesn't mean that if a man work with the same firm of job to a women, the man has the highest paid i don't believe that... it's up to the work and the type of jobs you are in not because of gender...

I think what should matter is the brain and not the casing of the brain. Yes, things were bad, but they are improving now.
The only place that a man could get a better wage than a woman is that of a bouncer in a pub. Given today's metal conditioning of humanity, a female bouncer is less likely to be at the receiving end than her male colleague, for it requires a lot of mental conditioning (or none at all) to be violent to a female under normal conditions.

Well lets imagine a couple who are both nurses. If the man gets more salary than his wife on the merit that he is a man then that would be beyond bias.
He does not save more lives than she does and his workload is not more than hers.
Male or female we should be paid based on experience, qualification and ability to do the job.

I think experience matters more than gender. I've worked with people who didn't have sense to tie their shoes but they made more than me. I've also worked where I made more than a lot of people but it was expected of me to teach them since I earned more. I guess if you base a yearly wage on yourself we all make too little, know that what you have is what you've earned.

I guess it should be fair regardless of gender.Whoever works more should be paid more...everybody deserves everything..
