Typing Skills. =)

Hi, just want to ask everyone if they're aware on how they type. Well, this afternoon. I happened to download this typing tutor and I felt a little embarrassed because of my skills. I just realized the importance of how well you type. I thought of the secretaries who jots down their bosses' instructions and admire how perfectly their fingers run through in the typewriter or even in the computer keyboard. I salute them. =)
I guess it really does matter. =)
Plus, I am also applying for a job as an encoder so I thought, by starting to practice in being aware of how I type - maybe I could be one of those lucky applicants to get in. I have to practice more though. To improve my WPM (Words Per Minute).
And, this is just for now. Maybe later in the discussions, I would go back to the all-small-letters typing skills.
No offense to anyone, it kind of irritates me sometimes when I find some who "typs lyk dis". LOL!
Peace and Happy New Year! =)

Yes I am guilty of making some typos. Despite the fact that I try to check that all the words are correctly spelt before posting, some do manage to slip through and past my eyes. I also have to admit that I generally see the typo as soon as I have hit the submit key. lol
When someone might be using a skill as typing, whether on a compter, typewriter or something else then having good typing skills will certainly help. And having those good skills could not only mean getting the job initially but also keeping their job if things get tough. And in the current global economic climate that might be even more important unless things start to show a rapid improvement.
Congratulations on having the sense to realise that you can improve your skills and therefore employability totallyundecided. In addition kudos to you for doing something positive to improve your skills and for admitting that you can do better with some practice and experience. As far as I am concerned you are more than half way there already as you have looked at your talents and from there made a decision to increase them.

very much correct, sir.
i can't help but laugh sometimes because even now, i am typing in all small letters and yes i do admit that i am being lazy.
plus, there's this good joke from sayings that i got in a movie, local movie though, but it's really funn and she stated, "practice makes perfect but then nobody's perfect. since i am a nobody so why practice?" LOL

Yes I have heard that statement before and my partner generally says the same thing if I tell her I am practicing something when she thinks I maybe should be doing something else.
I doubt that my typing skills will ever improve, regardless of ho much typing practice I get. So all credit to you for wanting to improve your skills in this regard to enhance your employment opportunities.
Thanks for giving me best response for this discussion of yours and it is appreciated.

Good for you! I've tried to learn typing thru Mavis Beacon and the first few lessons went fine but then I discovered that I don't like using all 10 fingers,I'm an old school,one-at-a-time person
