There are 192 Countries in the UN and in reviewing the list I could find 12 countries that we have gone to war with and there are a couple of questionable ones that maybe it was war and maybe it was peace keeping troops. One could say the number is much higher if you consider in WWI we fought the Germans but they were allied with the Ottoman Empire which was composed of most of the Middle East (which they conqured) which was divided up into independent countries after the war. We also attacked Canada during the Revolutionary War, but it was part of the British Empire at that time.
One could say that the US has been at war with very few countries.

We fought the British to gain our Independence and in 1812 for impressing our sailors. We fought the Barbary Pirates (Lybia) for attacking our merchant ships. We fought Japan because they attacked us while conducting peace talks. We fought Germany twice because they were attacking US Ships on the high seas, and in WWII they were in an alliance with Japan and Italy so to attack one was to attack all three. We fought in Korea (as part of the UN troops) when North Korea attacked South Korea. We fought in Viet Nam when they asked for help in training their military and our ships were attacked in international waters. We went into Grenada to protect US Citizens when Cuban troops invaded that country. We went into Iraq (under the direction of the UN) after they invaded Kuwait and the Kuwaiti government asked for international help. We invaded Iraq for the second time after they failed to respond to 17 UN resolutions and five of them giving the US the right to use force. Then there was the Mexican War when the Mexican government did nothing to stop the Bandits from attacking the US. This was done twice once before the Civil War (1848 about) (this also settled a border dispute and we purchased some land from Mexico)and before WWI. Then there was the Spanish American War where we attacked the Spanish territories and freed the people after a US War Ship, on a friendly visit, was blown up in Havana Harbor. The only territory we still have from that war is Puerto Rico which continues to vote to stay a US Territory.
We have had to defend our interest and respond when attacked or asked by the world to help defend oppressed people. Are you trying to prove that the US is a warring nation?
