Christians easily find flaws in Islam and Koran, but their own Bible is supposed to free of errors and they justify all the cruelty in Bible. Muslims say that Bible originally was God's word but then got distorted and God gave the final revelation to Muhammad through Koran and this is perfect and accurate. Well, why do people cannot find flwas in their own religion?

That is because they have been brought up to believe in their own religion. Many of us speak about the freedom to let our children choose their own religion, but how many of us actually do it? How many kids are brought up in a completely neutral environment or with inputs from all religions, so that on achieving mental maturity, they are free to either choose or discard religion? From my own example – we are Hindus but neither my hubby nor me are particularly religious. We don’t go to temples, we don’t have any deities at home, we don’t pray and on top of that, I tell my child stories from all religions. Yet, the surroundings are such that he knows he is a Hindu, he knows the festivals and deities, he hears and sees them all round him, he is growing up amidst Hinduism. So by the time he grown up, maybe he wont be a conservative, but definitely he will have positive words about his own religion. So think about those children who are from deeply religious families…how can you ever expect them to criticize their own religion, as adults? To them religion is a part of their growing years, their family, their identity.

They are either delusional, in denial, or came up with explantations to inconsistencies in their religion. Some people have such attachment to their religion that they choose to believe it even if they know there is inconsistencies.

Religion is about Love of your chosen Deity or Deities. Thus being said I can only denote the old saying of "Love is Blind". When you believe in something and love what it represents then you overlook alot of things. I do not ascribe to any religion thus I can see the flaws in all. If one of my core beliefs are shown to be wrong then I accept it and grow with it as my faith is founded in truth and I am human thus I have the ability to be wrong. If you fight for falsehood you do good to nothing nor anyone, not even your deity/deities. Thank you for the interesting topic and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Okay so lets take love for an example. They say love is blind meaning that the person in love with the other person will automatically ignore the bad things about the other while others outside that certain relationship won't. That is the same thing as religion in my eyes. Have a good night

well Frederick it depends on the religion. From what I know of catholicism they guilt you into thinking anything and everything is a sin and you must confess in a little box to a priest behind a screen. And I am talking about the old school catholics. I also know in some Baptist religions it's all about sin as well....they way I look at it is every religion has flaws. Even in the Bible...and I am not an expert on it at all....but Jesus was crucified by the very people he was attempting to help. What is imperfect about that? I am sure there are many other instances in that reference book that showcase other things as well. It doesn't make it right, it doesn't make it wrong...in terms of belief. It makes it something people can discuss and learn from. It shows humanity, best and worse. But when people focus on the MOST correct religion that is how we find ourselves at war, turmoil, lack of ethics and inhumanity. I never did like labels so if someone asks me my religion I just simply tell them I believe in God. ANd that is that. Because the rest is between me and God. No one else.

People find flaws in their religions all the time, some are dealt with internally debated and resolved, others cause schisms in the religion, if we look at christianity we will find large numbers of sects, from Catholics, Babtist, Methodists....

Its not like that Frederick42 people do find flaws in their own religion but the thing is that they dont show it other people or they dont want any bad name for their religion by saying the flaws themself..I as a Hindu would speak about the bad things in my religion to people from my own religion but i have never spoken it to other religion persons, but if they ask about it i would openly accept it since i'm not the one who protects my religion..i'm the one who says what's right and whats not... Happy Mylotting...

People find their own religions to be flawless while trying to pick holes in others. To me the primary reason for this seems to be the fear of blasphemy. True religious experience has to free one of any bigotry, whatever be the religion. IMO Hinduism is perhaps the only religion among those that believe in God, to permit, why even encourage one to question the premises or conclusions and exhorts you to believe only when you are established in the faith without a shade of doubt. Buddhism and Jainism do not take any sacrosanct Word as the basis of their religion, so questioning is more a way of "knowing" itself. Abrahamic religions first insist they are right, unquestionable truths revealed to chosen Prophets. Here questioning any of the "faith" points erodes the position of the religion itself. Further, questioning and challenging other religions' POV is one important method of strengthening their own belief. This is why you see a lot of mudslinging. Thus each time a person of one religion points the flaws in the other religion he somehow begins to feel reassured about his own. If only a person of any religion feels pressed to experience the divinity as defined by his/her religion than by looking for flaws in others' I am sure this tendency will definitely come down. Let me tell you, no one who has had the experience of divinity in his own faith can ever raise a finger against any one. If he has to stand up then he will do so only if he/she is directly attacked and that too as a last resort.

People made mistakes, but not the Bible which is the word of God written by men chosen by God and inspired by the Holy Spirit of God,the Bible itself is not teaching us about religion but to have a Personal relationship with God the Father through the Mediator Jesus the Son, Jesus Christ never condemned people nor religion for that matter. The main role of Jesus is to Reconcile mankind to God no matter what race, culture, tradition or religion you may have.
